so i just noticed a sound coming from engine bay when car is completely turned off, sounded like and old printing machine. i did drive the car prior to this (not hard) sounded like computer buzzing in various frequency. then after about 3 min it slowly faded. maybe i never paid attention before, maybe that sound was there all along, but doesn't sound like it should be there.

Perhaps fuel pump or something similar? On any bmw I've owned, I've always heard something 'running' after the vehicle was shut down

In my experience, you don't have to drive the car very hard for it to cause the cooling system to run after the car's been shut off. Even revving to 4K RPM a couple of times within 5 minutes of pulling into my driveway will do it.
