F25 - Retrofit Rear Window Sunshade?
Hi Everyone,
When I ordered my '17 X3 I did not order the rear window shades/sun shades and now I am regretting it. Does anyone know either the parts or effort required to added the built in sunshade to the rear doors or a good third part alternative? Thanks! |

The door panels themselves are different. MSRP is about $1300 each for leather interiors; assuming they're still available. (Some are. Some aren't.) The shades are about $290 each. I believe the parts are the same for all years so you may be able to find used donors. Effort shouldn't be much more than removing the old door panels and installing new.

There's also the window trim that needs to be replaced. The window trim for the shades has the clips that the shades connect to when you pull them up. The used route is probably the only economical way to add the rear shades. If you're buying parts new, it may be cheaper to just sell the current car and buy one with the rear shades.

If you want the sunshade for blocking the sun/heat, I would just use a quality ceramic window film. These new films have a high Total Solar Energy Rejected (TSER) %. It is amazing how much heat they reject without needing to go with a dark limo tint, some are nearly clear.

I did on my previous F31. They worked...….so long as my little 2 monsters didn't grab them and use them as faceshields!
