700 miles in...
I've now covered 700 miles in my X3MC and here my feedback.
Ride: it's a bit bouncy at times when the round is full of dips and speed bumps, but in the U.K. these are typical 20mph roads, so not an issue. On faster roads where the surface is poor, comfort is fine and I barely notice and ride issues. Power/torque: in efficient it's a pleasure to drive on the nursery run, nice and calm, a great family car. In sport it picks up from low end revs better than I expected, especially after the Joe Achilles videos. On the motorway it does kick down from 8th to 7th at big hills or with a slight push of the accelerator, much more than my Audi S4, but this doesn't bother me. High rev acceleration is impressive, I haven't taken it over 5500rpm, but you feel the urgency pick up massively as the revs do. A completely different car at that level. Sound: I'm sure it sounds better outside than inside, in sport plus the exhaust note sounds better, the S58 sounds a bit whiny, the V6 on the S4 has a more deeper sound. I had one issue relating to coolant... The cap hadn't been secured either at the factory or during the PDI. Leaked all over one corner of the engine bay and also need a refill. Garage loaned me an M4 for two days, whilst it was an amazing car to drive with so much more aggression than the X3, I couldn't live with it every day. It's a fun time car, handing it back there was a strong smell of burnt rubber... Getting back in the X3MC it makes so much more sense to me with a family, living in a city with mixed roads, better visibility and getting far more comfort from a car at that price. So, whilst the car isn't perfect (no car is) it's damn close and a decent upgrade from my S4!! |

I have an M4 and use it daily except during the winter. I love my M4 and looking to replace my X5 4.8i with an X3MC or maybe the upcoming X5M. The M4 and an X3MC OR X5M is the perfect combo.

If I could warrant it (annual mileage 3000 miles) I'd have both. I'm working hard to complete the 1200 miles for the first service |
