Mine resulted to be a faulty camera. Not software related.

Has anybody done the recall? My understanding is that it's supposed to be fix "just" by a software update, right? I'm asking because my dealer said they need to keep the car for more than a full day to fix it. W-t-f?!

Programming update will update all control units and apply the latest software. Dealers usually hold the vehicle for at least a day. Programming can take as little as an hour or less to several hours or days if a module fails and has to be replaced. This is a big reason why they want to hold the car overnight usually.

Do you mean a hardware module? or software? If it's a software module I don't see why it would take too long to fix or install another version (?) of it.

If it's a hardware one, then I would expect to take more time but then I wonder why they would replace it if it was apparently working with an older version of the software.

A programming update programs all the hardware control units. If a hardware module fails then it may need to be replaced.

Ours did it once, a couple months before the recall. It corrected itself after the car sat over night. Hasn't done it since. We've had a few software glitches..dash display, Nav perpetual loading, back up cam...that have all sorted themselves out overnight. Weird.

Any update regarding this issue? My 2019 apparently already had the recall done and it blacked out.

Last summer, my NAVI was crashing as well, i.e. rebooted 3 times during one drive. Hasn't happened since.

Honestly these newer cars have little glitches every now and then. I've had my idrive reboot twice in the year I've owned it. The rear view camera thing can happen sporadically as well. Honestly, if it works 99% of the time i don't think it's anything to worry about. These cars are all computers now so one single message not sent correctly to the right computer can end up in little glitches like this.
