2020 X3M Competition iDrive 7Retrofitting - what is needed?

Searching everywhere, buying products that don't work, dealing with support that doesn't help, turning to the forums.

I have a 2020 BMW X3M Competition with build date 12/12/2019 that is stuck on iDrive 6. I'll do just about anything to get it updated to use Android Auto aside from selling it and buying a newer one (BM3 already installed and very happy with my purchase, aside from this issue getting Android Auto). I've installed two MMI boxes, one from eBay was said to work with Evo and didn't come on at all, the second one from Amazon works for less than 3 minutes and shuts off completely requiring a restart. I'm ready to ditch the idea of an MMI box for a retrofit in the form of a Live Cockpit dash screen and coding.

Has anyone done this on a pre LCI to get iDrive 7? What all is INVOLVED? If I buy this Live Cockpit unit attached, are there additional connectors needed? What coding needs to be done?

Thanks in advance, glad to be back in a BMW!

While it is possible to retrofit iDrive 7 in the SP15 cars, it is REALLY time consuming and many different parts and wiring are required.

You'll need the following:

MGU headunit
RAM audio module
HK amp compatible with RAM
Live Cockpit Kombi

Keep in mind that a lot of the wiring changed, as even the audio wiring no longer go to the head unit in the front, and go to RAM thats located in the back.

To be honest, it's definitely not worth retrofitting iDrive 7 given so many different changes.
