There is an option called Galvanikapplikation für Bedienelemente on the German configurator. I think this is the option for the silver on the control buttons.

Here's hoping they have a US option to get rid of the silver

eww, $70k? That only a couple thousand less than what I paid for my M3 with comp package....might have to settle down for X3 sport. Guess we'll see in a few months after some test drives....might get drunk with that M40 power....

My dealer told me September. So the website would have to be later than that.

*shrug* Dunno. Although "in production" may include the intense QC and production line optimization building a relatively small number of vehicles whenever there is a new model. Or, if they are anything like Mercedes Benz, the '18 GLC has been in production for a month and the website builder just went live yesterday

Hope packages are different from German and less bundling of key options otherwise the G01 will be expensive.

It'll be interesting to see how the ordering details differ between the countries/regions. An example is the factory-installed trailer hitch which we've not been able to order previously. In the attached jpeg one can see a typical-appearing trailer hitch on the camo G01 from Palbay's Nov 2016 thread http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1323724. But on the German website which strike4A shared, they option an interesting electrically-adjustable trailer hitch and knob which apparently can be folded underneath the back bumper where it can't be seen. It also includes 'trailer stability control' which somehow links directly into DSC and can actively intervene if dangerous oscillations of the trailer are detected, thereby restoring back to a stable driving condition. Theft-proof fastening as well.

Also noted that 20" tires are apparently standard over there, and I don't see 19" even an option (if I'm reading it correctly), whereas we're 19"... So looking forward to our US website.

Really wanna know the towing capacity for the M40i.

My guess is 2400kg (5300lbs) is for the diesel?

Problem with towing capacity is it's a moot point when the hitch is only Class 2, which means 3500lb and 300lb tongue weight. One picture I saw looked like a Class 3, but the one above is definitely Class 2.

Yea I'm not planning on hauling a yacht, but the boat I was looking at... roughly a 19' bow rider was close to 4000lbs with trailer. So I was thinking 5300 was a good buffer.

My guess is they'll have multiple hitches available. Whats the purpose of touting towing capacity, 5300 max, and then only providing a 3500 hitch?

Agree. I haven't seen the power curves for the G01s but looking at the 2016 X5 35i and 35d, both hit max torque by 1500 RPM if I'm not mistaken. Attached is what appears to be the HP and Torque data for the G01 series engines. Both the M40i and 30d should be able to handle the load from a power standpoint it would seem?

Six weeks from the Introduction in Spartanburg, and still no word on when we'll have the G01's US website functional, and Dealers still unclear as to when orders can be taken. Would think it reasonable marketing strategy to at least whet our appetites with a rough timeline estimate?

LOL good thing you guys aren't Ford enthusiasts. They'll usually unveil a car over a year before it's actually released. Hell, they don't give you HP/TQ numbers until the build and price is up. With the Ford GT, I think they were actually building customer cars before they told the public what he power numbers were.

But I totally agree, people eventually forget about the car before it goes on sale.

I hear ya but a Ford GT is very different than a run of the mil X3.

Well yeah, but they do the same thing for most of their performance cars. The release of the GT350 and the Focus RS were terrible. So much time between reveal, power number reveal, build and price go live, and actual sale of the vehicle.

Agree - suspect they know they have some of us 'hook line and sinker', but for those on the fence with other Mnfr's competitive offerings, it would seem at a minimum an active website and pricing could help maintain their interest until orders can be placed.
