Currently at a BP Pulse 150kw charger and only getting 90 KW, there was a Tesla in before me and he got 145KW

Anyone any ideas why?

What is your current SoC? You will only get very rapid charging when you are very low SoC.

SoC is state of charge - what %age battery did you have when you began charging basically.

Charging Speed https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1878276

The above will tell you a bit more. Any charge schedules you may set could also interfere.

But basically you will only get very fast rapid charging when your battery is very depleted (I think less than 10% charge, but it may be more).

Fuzz, cheers, my battery was at 29 per cent when I started charging, just found it weird that the Tesla was charging a lot more rapid

Is the 150kw at 400v or 800v? Some chargers only put out 150kwh when using 800v, where as the iX3 is 400v

How can you tell whether a charger is 400v or 800v?

However, this is a BP Pulse charger. I have had close to 150kW on a BP Pulse in the past.

I found the MFG one's are mostly 800v, so charged my iX3 slower than advertised, the 800v was written on the charger itself in small print

Here's a thread around the detail, but don't think it covers everything:
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...&t=1958187

It seems to indicate we should get half the speed on 800v chargers, but I got 90ish from 150kwh

Shouldn't matter as the tesla is 400v anyhow.

But it's down to lots of things.. Temp of cellpack, SoC%, demand on the charger, demand on the feed to (multiple) chargers, voltage in the cellpack etc etc.

I had an odd one the other day, charged from 18% on an instavolt was only pulling 65kW, charged for 5 mins got annoyed, moved down the road to an Ionity, and plonk 130kW... Nothing else changed. So sometimes its just the charger...

I have noticed if your battery is 20% or less it wil charge at speeds up to 150kwh(manual says this as well)
Few days ago was charging from 16% and charger (350kwh) was giving 140-150 up to 65-70% batery. I had 80% charged battery within 25 minutes.
Some chargers (or car) restricting charge on ix3 to max 100kwh when other cars receiving 200+kwh from same charger.

Did you precondition the battery (if newer model LCI), not sure if you need to but I presume there is a reason for that app.

Good info regarding charging on G08 can be found here. Not sure if its the LCI or not.

But coming from Tesla M3 the preheating is needed to get faster charging :-)

My is pre LCI, no option for precondition before charge.

There is an easy way. Drive mode Sport preheats the battery in pre LCI
