11kw AC Charging
Has anyone done this? I’m at an 11kw charger, the charge limit is not set but the car is showing a max of 32A and a kw of 7. Is there a setting in the car that I’m missing?

Are you sure the socket you are using is 11kW?
It looks like you are on a single phase 7.4kW charger: 32A x 230v = 7.4kW. Or maybe it is a 3 phase charger with a fault: 16A x 230v x 3 phases = 11kW 16A x 230v x 2 phases = 7.4kW I think that is correct - but I’m not an electrician!!! |

Also... Depends on cable, if the bmw one, its a one phase only probably.
Need a three phase cable for three phase charging. I may be wrong. But it doesn't feel as thick as the aftermarket three phase one I have. But to be fair never tried it on a three phase supply. |

Fair enough, like I said hadn't checked, as just use the one already had and keep bmw one clean in its bag 😂
Was just a thought though, as know a lot of them aren't certified for 3 phase. |

If you are using the supplied cable then I am pretty sure it will be only single phase as BMW supply what they call a fast charging cable as standard.
They do have a 3 phase cable and this is classed as rapid. This is a quick cut from the dicklovett BMW site. BMW PUBLIC CHARGING CABLE The BMW i AC Fast (single phase) and Rapid (three phase) charge cables allow safe and convenient connection to compatible public charging stations throughout the UK. I remember when I was looking at the Polestar 2 and the early deliveries came with a 3 phase 16A cable. This was hopeless as when using it on a single phase home charger you could only get 16A out of it! A 3 phase 32 amp cable would cover all bases but with the iX3 limited to 11kw and the sheer weight + storing the thing in the car would make it a non starter for me as I am not sure I will ever use anything other than 7kw/DC chargers. |

I think I need to become an electrician!
I didn't check the details on the charger itself, so I'm only going by what it said on Zap Map. However, the details may have been wrong. It listed 2 chargers as Tesla only chargers but there were actually 3 as one was for non-Tesla cars. Next time I'm going to check more carefully. The Type 2 to Type 2 cable that was supplied with my car is actually a 3 phase, 22kw cable. It states that it is 32amps and 480v. It's this one: https://esl-emobility.com/en/bmw-614...phase-5-m.html I actually don't like it as it's too heavy! Assuming that this cable would support 11kw charging then it does sound like either the charger was limited or the information on Zap Map was just wrong. I just went and tried charging on a 22kw and got a rate of 10.9kw which is very close to the max that the iX3 can accept. It was set to 16 amps.
So, I can conclude that the charger I used previously was actually only 7kw. |

It was probably the case.
In Belgium we received a 3-phase cable but limited to 20A, meaning that on single phased chargers (7Kw) we only got 4.xkw....if you pay by the minute you're not getting a good deal |
