I've been in and out a few junctions and parking spaces now, but I've yet to hear or see any indication from the cross traffic warning.
I have got the box ticked in the menu.
I'm starting to think it may not be activated in the software, anybody got any thoughts or suggestions?

Works on mine, think you need to be in R and moving, I get a red flash on the reverse camera from the side traffic is approaching with warning beeps

Does it only work in reverse, or is it supposed to work when pulling out forward?

Only ever worked in reverse for me, would love it to work pulling out of my road as its pretty blind, but doesnt

It has definitely worked for me in D.

Pulling out of a driveway on a bend, it warned me of traffic approaching from the right.

I've had it moving forward but only once, it seems to be patchy.

First day I pulled out of the drive at my new house, which is on a blind bend, it did great, alerting me (actually made me jump!). But since then it hasn't activated even when cars have come round the bend infront of me.

I'm not sure if it's me being more cautious and pulling out slower so the system doesn't activate anymore maybe. There must be some fairly specific logic in there so that it doesn't false alarm when you're stopped at a junction in drive (which would be incredibly annoying), but also doesn't activate when moving at speed and a car pulls up to a junction to the side of you. So I'm guessing there is a very narrow speed window in which it's active in forward, like between 1 and 5mph .

Pretty sure I haven't had any sounds in 6 months but I don't do a huge amount of driving. I did notice the rear centre camera in red on the parking display when reversing out the other day and there was a car parked near to where I was reversing but I couldn't see anything else in the vicinity.

I must try pushing the parking button when pulling out of Grove forwards onto the main road and see if anything lights up.

I found this on the i4 forum that seems to sum it up reasonably well and no doubt the system is identical in the way it performs to the iX3.

There are several other posts across the various BMW forums that report issues with the front/rear cross traffic alert. I double checked my cross traffic was turned on and while I was there I turned back on the PDC intervention which I had turned off for some reason when I first got the car. Perhaps I thought the cross traffic would be sufficient

Mine went off yesterday.

I was parallel parking into a space and when a car went past me on my right, the side alert went off.
