Can we activate Sport-Boost mode on iX3

Dear all,

Can you get some more power by activating Sport-Boost in the ix3?

The ix3 has the same rear motor as the BMW i4 M50.... and this car has the idrive option to activate Sport-Boost describe by BMW as "With the Sport Boost function turned on, the pair of e-motors unleashes its full potential. Sport Boost is more than just marketing fluff since it adds 68 horsepower (50 kilowatts) and 65 Newton-meters (48 pound-feet) for over 10 seconds"

Regards

I've looked into it, from what I can tell the iDrive7 doesn't have it... I need to look at an i4 though to be 100% sure, I think they added some new options into id8, and extended the xtraboost mode that they had in id7. I can enable that, but the kickdown does not activate. Will try get access to an i4 and see though...

For some of my fiddling earlier. In fact not looked since the last firmware, so may do that....

You can enable the Sports Plus power unit mode, which does give you a little bit

Yes we should try to get the extra 50-60ps out of this drivetrain... (it's safe) we can team up on it if you like.

Within the HU_MGU 3E52 i find two boost related settings...

FES_SPORT_POWERMODE
SPORT_BOOST available for G26 BEV TOP → 50 MPA until 21-11

FES_SPORT_XTRABOOST
SPORT mode XtraBoost available for PHEV

Aah OK, only xtraboost was in the firmware I looked at last for this, so perhaps it's been added, I'll have a fiddle over the weekend see if I can get it enabled.

Had a fiddle, can activate the option, unfortunately there is no equivalent option to activate it in the other control unit.

So for now, Sport+ the best we can do. I'll have a bigger dig and dump all the control units and see if there's something I'm not noticing straight away.

Ok.. I activated comfort plus and sport plus... I feel the comfort plus on the steering and especially on the dampening. However when timing sport plus when activated on the motor I notice and see no difference. Any other units I need to active stuff in?

Yeah I bet that it's the m50 version. Also sport+ doesn't really do much, it does however do stuff, throttle input is sharper and the traction control is adjusted so allows slightly more slip. On a couple of tests I did it was everso slightly quicker, but obviously depends on circumstances etc.

I have pulled a bunch of stuff down, and think I've found where the timing is for the steering wheel sensor times are, might have a fiddle with that, along with some other things, I'll have a dig through over the weekend.

Cool, if we want to be a 100% sure if sport plus up the power from the motor we should find a way to exactly measure the wattage I draw from the battery during eg. a 0-60 mph run.

Yeah, it does work, but has side effects... Seems to mess with some other sensor timings. Not had a chance to dig much deeper into it though, work has me upto my eyeballs in cods at the moment as we are in final sprints, so not had much time to dedicate. Will do though, as 20sec steering wheel thing is just plain annoying

Can you share how do you activate the comfort plus and sport plus?
I’m using Bimmercode.

Hello,

I was going to create a different forum post but I think it might be worth asking my question on this thread.

When I was sent the BMW iX3 marketing material, it included a summary of equipment and technical highlights, one of which was the HP (lower right) showing 340HP, whereas everywhere else it appears to be published as 285HP. Is this a typo or is this what other thread contributers are looking at, to unlock the extra HP?

Many thanks,

A new-and-improved BMW iX3 will also join the X3 lineup, but it won't use the same CLAR architecture found underneath the current model. The new iX3 will adopt BMW's dedicated Neue Klasse EV architecture instead of ICE bones. There are even rumors of high-performance, quad-motor BMW iX3M as well.

But that is for the next generation due sometime in 2025.
The one that ThreeXi posted was the current iX3 LCI model
