DO you prefer if this forum stays with x3.xbimmers or moves to the BMWi section?

We're playing with the idea of moving this forum to the BMWi section, alongside the i4, iX, etc... (https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/)

There are pros and cons to both, but heres a chance to have your say

In my opinion, there is probably more crossover with the X3 group. The car is ostensibly the same as the X3, albeit with a different powertrain. Much of the information in the X3 group is applicable to the iX3. Certainly anything to do with iDrive, interior and exterior trim, and accessories is directly transferrable from the X3 to the iX3.

The only real connection with the other i models is the electric powertrain. The newer i models, such as the iX, i4, iX1, all use the newer iDrive platform. So much of the information in those forums will be less applicable to the iX3.

Not saying you´re wrong here, but the i4 is just as identical to the 4-series as the iX3 is to the X3, so...

I think the BMWi section is the place to be.

The common denominator of the “i” forum would be charging, battery and drive behavior. That spans over various models, whereas issues with the car itself only link to the X3 forum. This is very specific info.

So, I am in favor to set up a “i” forum for all EV’s and leave “non-electrical issues” to the respective fora for each model. The i3 and iX will have to get their own “non-electrical issues” forum as the do not have an “ICE counterpart”?

I say move to the i section. After all, it's an i car. The i4 is also there even though it's based on the 4 Series

With that logic the i4 should have been in the same forum as the new X7 since they share idrive platform too

I think you should move to the BMWi but have a subsector as each model is introduced you just add. So BMW i3, i8, iX1, iX3, i4, iX, i7 etc...

Thats the way it is currently https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/

The caveat here is if we move this forum there, it will be standing on its own just the same way you see i4, iX, i3 and i8.

I do think the cross-pollination is valuable with the other BMWi forums, but its tricky since other piece of knowledge are tied to the series X3 here

... we are so far polling 3:1 in favor of the move ...

I'd go for the BMWi section as well. Makes more sense to me.

Ehm, no. The logic is, that the iX3 is an electrified X3 just as the i4 is an electrified 4-series.

I voted for moving the iX3 away from the X3. One of the reasons was I thought it might help with searching for topics. There are a lot of threads and we seem to be getting quite a few new ones that have been covered by existing threads.

With many pages of threads it is perhaps unreasonable to expect someone to scroll through every page but if a search was able to identify more easily that that there was already information on a particular subject then a member may get their question answered without starting a new thread or choose to add something to an existing thread.

Hey Mark,

Did anything ever come of this? The poll showing a large majority were in favour of the forum moving to the i section.
