Your car looks really good I’m in the process of deleting all the cerium for the all blacked out look. I ordered the black grille and the same M-style side mirrors. I'm about to order the M side vents too. Is your color Black sapphire ?

How is it fitted? Ive had a look under the dash above the accelerator pedal and can't see an obvious plug to disconnect. Do i have to take some trim off to find it? Cheers *edit* Found this link |

Nice! Do you have more photos of the tint? I'm looking to get this exact brand / combo done, only difference being 50% for the sunroof

Secondly, you need to set the system up. Turn on the ignition (engine off) You just press the buttons on the controller in a certain order (plus and minus i think it was) for a few seconds and it goes into learning mode. You then just press the accelerator pedal slowly to the floor, past the kickdown point and release it slowly again. Press the flashing white button and thats it set. You obviously get those instructions with the kit. It really does wake up the beast Last edited by Addbuyer; 08-15-2022 at 08:08 AM.. |

Upgraded my 2019 X3 running iDrive 6 NBT EVO version Y to have Apple CarPlay. I was missing the WiFi antenna so bright that (£9) and trim removal tools (£7.50) from Amazon.
Was fairly easy to remove everything, starting with the centre air vent unit then the radio control and climate control panel that sits below. I only removed the 3 cables attached to the back of the air vent unit (hazard lights button, start stop button) and didn’t need to for the radio/CC unit, just left that connected. Was v careful but once one side was loose it was easy to get everything out. After that there are 2 torx screws to remove and the head unit just pulls out. The Wi-Fi antenna plugged into the empty port on the back of the head unit marked WIFI. There was enough slack to leave everything plugged in on the head unit. The antenna came with 3M tape already attached so stuck it to the top of the headunit and put everything back together. I then got the software / update files from kubax86 from this forum. I would definitely recommend using him to anyone considering doing this upgrade. Just send him a PM if you have any questions, he was really helpful and quick to reply. He sent me to his website https://bimmer-remote.com/products/b...een-activation to buy and everything was emailed to me in a couple of minutes. Really easy to follow and only took about 5/10 mins to run the software and flash the iDrive with the new software. I’ve attached some pics for reference and so people can see where the clips and bracket points are behind the centre air vent unit as that was a bit of a guessing game for me. I found a YouTube video of a guy removing it but only from a side angle and it was edited so you couldn’t really see him remove it or see what it looked like once removed. Hopefully this helps so you can see where you need to apply pressure etc. (I started on the passenger side first) The only real issue I ran into was the fact that I don’t have a laptop so had to take my full PC and set it up in the back of my car with an old crap monitor. There was a thunderstorm on the way at the time so didn’t want to leave the PC outside the car, thank god for the big boot space! Haha I used an ENET cable to connect the PC to the car (OBD2 port on one end and Ethernet/RJ45 on the other) Some versions of iDrive can be done via USB, but check with Kubax86 and he’ll tell you what you need for your car. If anyone wants any more info then feel free to ask or PM me. For about £60 all in it was definitely worth doing, just wish I’d done it sooner!

Well done AJ! Clever solution to not having a laptop to use for set up. Thanks for posting the write-up and pics.
