Rear Badging

I have a new X3 LCI arriving in a few days. I'm wanting to change the rear lettering to black. Did the style of the badges change with LCI? I don't want the wrong ones.

I believe they’re the same, which X3 did you get?

I got mine from Inchcape BMW and Ocean BMW. I’d recommend getting the genuine BMW badges, they also come with the 3M backing tape.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the X3 was italicised. It's not an M - an xDrive20i M Sport.

The style changed (larger & different font) on my '22 SDrive30i, and rather than buy the expensive ones from IND, I removed, painted, and replaced mine and removed the SDrive30i badge altogether:

Get OEM no matter what.
I made the mistake of buying on Etsy and the colors started fading.

UK only I’m afraid, by the time you added on international shipping the discount would be wiped out.

What's the easiest and safest way to remove the rear badges?

When I've removed rear badging in the past, I find it has given the optical illusion of the car appearing narrower.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer, heat the badges a little and you should be able to pry them out easily. You can use some rubbing alcohol to clean the residue.

Dental Floss - gently work it back and forth between the metal and the adhesive tape on the back of the badges. Clean up with alcohol or other mild solvent.

Definitely recommend black OEM rear badges. Transforms the look of the car, especially if you have the shadowline and an M40.

Does anyone know the availability or part numbers of genuine "xdrive 30d" badges?

I can find the M40d badges easily enough but need a 30d (too tight to buy a M40d)

I'm aware the chinese badges are sometimes not the best quality so keen to buy OEM

Thanks all,

Mart

I can’t find a “genuine BMW” 30d in gloss black, lots of aftermarket. below has the part numbers for the chrome variant. Perhaps if you called your local dealership and explain you’re after the gloss black one they’ll be able to sort you out.

Failing that…..

The only way of getting genuine gloss black 30d badging is to order up the 40d and the black X3 then replace the 4 with the 3 to complete it. It’s obviously more expensive but you’d have genuine badging and no fading.

Nice one Keefy,

Never occurred to me to swap the 3 and 4 from an extra badge.

I’ll call my dealer and see if there’s an alternative.

The car won’t land until September, I’ve got a bit of time to get it right.

Cheers,Mart
