What are to socket or tool sizes needed to change the front and rear brake pads? I have a few torx heads bits but not sure exactly which sizes it requires. Also, what's the best brand or brake pads to use that don't break the bank! I ordered the brakebest brand from oreilly's but not sure how they compare with original bmw brakes

For pad replacement you only need to remove the two caliper guide bolts....8mm HEX if I recall correctly.
Pads: personally I use either genuine BMW, Pagid or Jurid. Not familiar w/brakebest...this is not a place to cheap-out on parts, brakes are a major safety item, plus pad life is pretty decent on these cars. |

As for the pads on our F25...they were TRW from new on ours, same folks who made the calipers...nothing special (I'd go as far as to say junk...)....Replaced rotors and pads with BREMBO.. |

They seem pretty good so far...no different than before..The problem we had was the stock rotors disintegrated...the pads were still fine...
After about 4 months... everything looking great...no rust so far but winter is a coming... https://www.bremboparts.com/america/...rive28i/017921 https://germanparts.ca/package.html?...code=BMWX3PACK Last edited by Bilbofraggins; 11-03-2018 at 02:26 PM.. |

Was the brake sensor worn/activated? My guess is not...
This has happened to me in the past...if I recall, what I did was unplug the brake sensor (in the little plastic box)...and then reconnect...as if I had installed a new one. These days, when I do a full brake job (rotors and pads), I usually add new sensors for the hell of it... |
