Thoughts on this 2011 x3 35i?
https://www.camargocadillac.com/Vehi...-OH/3291843603
Considering this for the wife. I have a modded 335i myself and know may way around it mechanically. Mileage is up there but it was a single owner local woman driver and it's mint inside and out, not even any wheel rash. Drives smooth and strong, no odd noises. No accident history, maintained at local dealership. If I grab it, I'll put a fresh set of plugs in, stage 1 mhd tune and stage 1 or 2 xhp tune, black matte grills and be done with it. Is there a golf tee type mod for the exhaust on these? Noticed one pipe a lot blacker than the other. Thanks for any feedback!

I've unplugged mine, and put a tywrap, so far it didnt melt. do not expect a much louder exhaust, its barely noticeable, a bit in low frequency.. A F25 with a N55 is almost a no brainer. @ 104k miles, I believe the water pump has been maintained, if not, that should be in your check list. I read a lot before bying a used 35i 65k miles, and I didnt find much . the 20i with the N20 is an other story. If you mind about the look, imho, the M pack bring some nice visual touch. If you dont mind, the one youve posted seems clean. Last edited by oVeRdOsE.; 10-04-2018 at 06:49 AM.. |

Make them fix that glovebox door. I had the same delamination on mine and I ended up replacing the glovebox door. I would work a new door into the deal if I were in your position.

According to newtis.info, the flap actually reduces volume by about 8dB, which isn't quite half the volume, but pretty damned close. 10dB lower would be exactly half the volume. And yeah, unplugging is just going to make it harder for your turbo to work when the flap should be open. I'd recommend getting a brass fitting so that the vacuum line is always holding the flap open. |

I have that X3 but with Black Interior. Same 309 wheels too.
You may want to find out when the water pump was replaced. If it hasn't yet, it will need one soon. Not a cheap fix. I've ready around 1100.00. I'm very happy with mine. Bought in Feb 2018 with 62k on the clock for 19.5k Short of the Run Flat tires, I have few complaints. Check that all the leds in the rear work. They have a large failure rate. The fix is easy and about $30 if you don't go the dealer. Also take a look at the serpentine belt, idler and tensioner. The belt should not be out of line with the idler or tensioner. If it is, it's time to replace. Good luck |

This might work too, although they say it's for e92. But same concept I believe.
Only it's way more expensive than a wire.

Thanks for all the replies and helpful info. Does anyone know if you can connect a phone via bluetooth for audio in a 2011 X3? Wife likes podcasts and really don't want to have to plug-in to make it work.
Thanks!

I've got some stainless zip ties that should do the trick for this, thanks!

Water pump will go, oil filter housing will leak, starter, coil packs, radiator, radiator hoses, transmission service, etc. Once the N55 gets above 100k they start falling apart and need major maintenance. Turbo will probably start smoking as well and need to be rebuilt/replaced.
BMW's are not designed to be owned past 100k. I mean you can, but good luck. Last edited by Riick; 10-05-2018 at 02:16 PM.. |

I'd be curious how many of these issues I/others should expect on a later model N55 (specifically in my '17 X3, production date of 05/2016). Most of these issues had been taken care of by 2015 IIRC, but I'm not the expert. |

We have the same car, bought new, same wheels, same interior/exterior, sunroof. VIN *734892.
2011 35i at 115K miles and running like new. Currently consumes about 0.5L liter of oil in 1300 miles. My wife likes to cruise I-40 at 100-110 MPH "when no one's around" - scary. The 2011 F25 had many warranty recalls but it's a strong engine. Warranty items: VANOS camshaft bolts, Takata airbag recall, ISOFIX BRACKET kid seat attachment weldments (big job), oil filter housing leak, coolant tank leak, belt tensioner bearing failed, seven (7) failures of LED tailights (first 3 were warranty - DIY since then), glove box door delaminated - DIY. Passenger door button operator - $$$. All service by the dealer up to 100K miles and at an independent shop since then. |

Lot of people told me the same on my audis, but if I put some thousand $ every year on a preventive maintenance, just like other car lovers I know, they will survive for a long long time. But car maker like this make me rage, they making luxury cars, with a lot of materials, and not so reliable with a basic maintenance. ''disposable'' car in 201X , is fcking stupid. I remember the guy who destroy his series 7 with a baseball bat in the street because he was pissed that you pay tons of money on a non-repairable car. Quote:

Making new cars use tons of resources. If we can make them live longer is already a good step. see in china and france, they forbid people to use their car depending the day of the week, because of all there abuse and non-breathable air. Norway, already control petrol cars hard... And I dont even talk about the economical cost... its huge for ''normal'' people changing cars. first 6 months a normal car can loose 20-30% of his initial values. No issue if people has money, but for most people, they dont have and cut on other important thing. off topic |
