Downpipe Dilemma

I tried to install a VRSF catless downpipe over the weekend but my plans were foiled by a very mean and evil person at the BMW plant who decided to tac weld the lower clamp to the exhaust.

Any suggestions on what to do? I do not really want to use a cutoff wheel because I then run the risk of gashing the exhaust.

If I loosen the clamp all the way, should I be able just to push the stock downpipe up so the smaller end of the downpipe is freed from the exhaust?

For some reason I don't think that spot weld is welded to the DP as the mid pipe goes over or slides over the oem DP. As it looks similar to mine.

The clamp can stay as it is. Remove the first hanger bolt behind it holding the exhaust to the chassis to be able to pivot and lower the front of the whole setup, so that you'll have room to get the DP out.

No problem, I also reused the oem hardware (turbo gasket, exhaust bolt & clamp, v-band clamp). But I had new ones on hand ready to go as I thought they would be rusted out but original was still good.

Okay sounds good. My car is only 2 years old and has not been exposed to salt on the winter roads in the north so they should not be rusted I hope!
