Tire PSI Question

With some sadness, I decided to swap my summer tire setup with all-season tires. I didn't want to get a second set and keep swapping the tires. Ok, call me lazy. I picked up ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus in sizes 265/40/21 and 295/35/21.

This is my DD and will not be tracking the car. What PSI are you running on the tires? Thank you in advance.

I am not sure if it changes because of the different sizes, but I've been running 32 PSI on stock-sized tires and it's been smooth and comfortable.

I have the same DWS06+ tires and I'm at around 36 front and 43 rear. In the iDrive settings, you can make some adjustments based on tire type and max speed you plan to take the vehicle too. Under 100mph it'll suggest a certain psi. Over 100mph, the psi will need to be higher. I personally was at 33 psi all around at one point and didn't notice a difference in ride quality once I increased it.

How are you guys able to run lower PSI without having the error light be on constantly. Very annoying. Even if I reset values, 32 PSI front has a constant warning light and error message pop up.

Set it to custom or whatever, not summer/winter, otherwise yeah constant annoyance.

What tire inflation specs does BMW recommend in the owners manual? Every BMW I”ve owned always had a chart in the manual.

Or can you get this info from iDrive?

The manual list the following tire pressures;
< 100 33/38
> 100 38/44

I just switched to the Michelin PSAS and have been trying both and decided on the higher values as the better set up for those tires. This allows me to take several corners at the same speed I was with the stock Continentals. The benefit is the ride is smother than the Continentals. I also notice I use the M1 and M2 modes more than I did with the stock tires.

You guys must really like super soft cushy rides. I'm running 38 front & 40 rear since I rarely have company or cargo back there. This is with the PS4S 265/40 & 295/35 tire combo. I like things taught, sporty & responsive.

I'm running 36 front and 41 rear and I like it. That's how it was from factory when I took delivery.

I just got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's, switched over from the Pilot Sport 4S since I live in New England. They're the exact same sized tire, what should the optimum psi be?

Also do I have to do anything to recalibrate the tire pressure monitor or anything like that?

Also have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S’s in stock sizes on my X3M and I’m running stock recommended pressures—33 up front and 38 in back and don’t have any complaints

For clarification, did you purchased the stock sizes at 255/40/21 and 265/35/21? If so, most people agree to run at recommended psi by BMW - 33 front and 38 back.
