Are these variants of the Pilot Sport 4S still a thing? Where does one even buy them? Or do they only come as OEM?

BMW Star Spec tires are still a thing. Other manufactures have star spec'd tires as well. Really I just means BMW set the specs for the tire in that size, which could be different from the generic tire released by Michelin.

They should be available from any tire retailer that offers Michelin's. If you look at tirerack for example, the PS4S's indicate "Star BMW" under them. For more general tire shops, you'd probably need to specify/verify.
