What RFTs on new UK X3?
Picking up a new 2.0d M Sport with the 20" wheels. I know they come with RFTs. Just wondered what make of tyre they are likely to be? Thanks.

I've P-Zeros on my 3.0D X3, and after 24,000 miles they still have 4mm of tread left. Expecting to replace them in the autumn tho.

that surprises me, in a good way, mine when new only had 7.5mm (i thought all new tyres came with 8). Now i have 2500 miles. i see people change the rears first and often much sooner than yours will need. Are you taking advantage of the 30d's performance ? or do you drive very steadily ?

I'm on Adaptive (M40i) with Pirelli P Zero RFT, 20 inch wheels. In my opinion the ride is too harsh and tyres are rather noisy on a freeway. Lasted 24k miles, about to replace with Michelins.

Some of us are just too sensitive to RFT characteristics - I know I am. I drove an adaptive M40i with 21-inch RFTs and I immediately experienced the characteristic harshness I'd had on previous BMWs. When the chance came to order my M40i with 20s / non-RFT I jumped at it. It's rare that I get any tyre noise - I'd say the tyres (P Zero) are quiet. Ride is good and in Sport there's no discomfort for passengers - the quick "rise time or thump" over bumps that you get with RFTs isn't there.

I had 20s with P0 - I like. Having said that I have had no contrast since the previous came with the same :-)
Currently STILL running my bridgestone winters on 19s, must change them soon :-|. I know it's not a good comparison but I do find the winter bridgestones somewhat 'unable to stick to the road' when nailing it round corners. Loving how traction control and rear diff has helped me out a few times ;-) |
