It's from a X3 40i.

The first pic is at the "ready" state and the second one is on under very small load in the garage...

The white bands extend upward as requires.

P.S.: If you post 2 photos only one shows (don't see the Red Square you mentioned).

This screenshot below is from an M5 but this is exactly how mine looks like. You see how the power gauges (Nm and kW) are horizontal. Also see the bottom portion how the red looks like it's pixelated, has squares - whereas yours is fully red with no pattern. Just curious as to why as I've seen both types. maybe all Competition ones have a different design. I really like yours tbh

Just got the update today and drove the car for an hour. Also switched from the 20 inch winters to the 21 inch summers with PS4S.

The cars suspension feels better, not as jittery or skiddish on uneven pavement. Even going to the 21 inch summers in mid 40's weather the car was composed with the summer tires.

Coming from the e90 M3 with DCT, the ZF8 in the X3M just isn't as fast or visceral as my DCT. I am hoping I can provide feedback after some spirited driving with the updated software. I like the zf8, but it just didn't feel as responsive as I would have expected.

The cruise control auto steer function does feel smoother, but don't have enough time behind the wheel to confirm the improvement.

Thank you for heads up and creating this thread to benefit fellow members!

I just switched back to my shitty Conti 6 21" summer tires...can confirm, feels so much better with the summer tires than it did before the update.

I need to get this done. What's the best strategy for getting this done? Is paying out of
pocket the only way?

If you don't have any problems, yes paying for it would be the Ethical way to get it.

I had lots of pics of many problems and it was only on the 3rd visit that "they" decide to do the up-date even though I had told them that it was the problem at the first visit.

What version are you on?

Not sure, I'll look tomorrow. Car was built on 12/2019.

You might have the same version I had (Oct 19 build, with Factory 1 Level 19-07-553 software).

With the amount of money we pay for these nice machines, we shouldn't have to ask for this stuff huh. Wouldn't you agree...
I never did an intermediary step with newer 2020 firmware ( would be installed on 2021s built early this year and last year ) but I suspect 2021s will get most if not all of the improvements i mentioned.

what about those who has a bm3 flashed already? it will be flagged if they will do update? I assume it doesn't matter even it will be flashed back to stock?

I told the dealer that my car pulls very hard when I pass a specific turning lane near my house. I was told by a bmw rep that there is a new istep update to address it.

They then did it.

I was flashed with BM3. Switched to stock a week before and dealer said nothing when I updated the software. Nothing noted on my paperwork either

Update Completed

Vehicle updated yesterday and after the 45-mile drive home, on varying pavement types, I'm pretty happy with results. Lane Keep Assist is useable now, not perfect, but the "ditch mode" has been eliminated. Suspension seems less edgy on broken pavement (more supple). I had an M440i xDrive as a loaner and that vehicles suspension was pretty soft in comparison. It feels like the X3M's suspension has been dialed back from "11" in sport and comfort modes. Haven't used sport+ at all.

I know im probably part of a small part of customer but I wish to keep my suspension as is, as its good on track. Does this keep the suspension the same for sport+? I would like to get improved lane keep assist and low speed transmission shift but I dont want yo lessen sport+ experience.

I am in this same boat, I would love to keep as is.

If its only the comfort mode changed then I wouldn't mind. Interested to see how the ZF units programming has changed though.

It's not making the suspension softer. It just makes it less busy. I would suspect that it will handle better on the track as it's not bouncing as much. It's far closer to my f80 and e92 now. It's very stiff but it's not busy and bouncy.

Why someone always has to bring up the ethics BS... the car is under warranty and the manufacturer develops a software to improve certain parameters that were not perfected from the beginning ... no one should "work" to get it and especially pay for it...

Agreed. Ethics. Wtf. If BMW is willing to eat the cost. All good. Not stealing anything or trying to get warranty work after we break something.

That was laughable.
