Fuel-It Ethanol Analyzer Install DIY

I had the BM3 E30 map and now have the E50 Mission Performance tune. I was sick of reviewing logs making sure my ethanol was somewhat correct. While I intend to still log at least once after fill-ups, this brings a nice piece of mind.

Pretty simple install:
1. Unlock the doors and open the hood
2. Open the trunk and unhook the battery, cover the trunk latch to not screw yourself
3. remove the strut bar and airbox (you don't need to remove the oil cap)
4. cover the turbo inlets
5. remove the gray clips on either side of the fuel line, careful not to drop them they are not connected to anything and will fall.
6. wrap the fuel lines in a towel on both sides and remove, drain any remaining fuel and store the original fuel line in a ziplock bag
7. assemble and install the new fuel line, ethanol sensor (pay attention to the direction i did in the pics), and plug in the power connector. Note I didn't use the extension, maybe ill change the setup, but works fine for now. zip tie the ethanol analyzer to the wiring harness.
8. remove the plastic cover over the hot (red) jumper, there is a small snap on the front and back of it.
9. remove the center nut, cut the power connector in the center to fit on the larger bolt, cut the plastic jacket back a bit to fit under the nut flush, reinstall the nut and cover
10. cut the ground power connector in the center to fit on the strut bar bolt, cut the plastic jacket back a bit to fit under the strut bar flush. (Note: this will indent the underside of the strut bar (steel > aluminum))
11. reinstall everything, air intake screws torque is 3nm, strut bar bolts torque are 30nm.
12. dont pair to bluetooth, just open the app and click connect
13. done and enjoy!

Notes:
1. I may move the strut bar ground, but so far works fine and strut bar lays flat after torqueing. It was the closest ground I could find without having to extend the wires.

2. I may clean up the wire install, but meh.

3. If you zip tie anything from the engine to the chassis, make to leave some slack in the wires as the engine moves.

4. After filling up, it takes about 1 minute of driving for the new fuel to flow to the sensor.

5. The sensor is okay to be hard wired as it goes to sleep when not in use and power usage is very very low per Fuel-It.

I understand what the fuel it kit does. Lets you see if youre at the correct level for you ethanol tune.
My question is for those that have it- how do you use it? If you know you need 5 gal of E85 for example for a E30 mix. How does the ethanol analyzer kit help you?

Validates your calculation in addition to E content %. Pump i use fluctuates from e85 - e70. So, I dont have to test constantly any more, and soon you'll be able to tie the ethanol analyzer in with bm3 to have a variable tune based on e content.

How's the reliability of this kit? I've bought fuel lines in the past and had one leak at the fitting. Thinking about getting this and a E50 or E85 tune. I don't want my car to burn down from a leak on the fuel line.

Also if you can share a free calculator you use to mix 93 and e85 would be appreciated too.

No issues or leaks thus far. I've had many Fuel-It parts. Never any leaks in any of them.

iOS app Calculator i use:

Update, remove the oil cap as it can catch and break when removing the air box. Then put it back on to prevent anything from falling into the engine.

Hey everyone. For those that have installed the fuel it kit.
I have a ask.
Could you measure the OEM fuel line that was removed? I would be willing to test this on my M40i as a guinea pig for all the others. I just dont know if the length is the same depending on the fuel line location on the S58 F97 VS the B58 G01.

I got you in a few hours. I bet you could ask fuel-it to make it a bit longer if that's needed for a bit extra $.

Appreciate it!!
I asked Fuel It for specs on the F97 and for the G20 even offered to share my platform details.

Response was pretty much. If its not listed in our models chart it will not fit. Please purchase the our build your own kit. 🤷*♂️

Thanks so much for providing this. I saw it long time ago my reply never posted. This helped out a lot. I was able to make my own kit with a different co. and got it installed yesterday works great. Now time for even more boost.

I have a post about it on the Mission Performance S58 thread. In short, MP e50 is the fastest OTS map for our cars. I still own BM3 for logging as MP doesnt have a mobile app. BM3 is the best value and better customer service.

it's always on, but such low power usage as the module goes to sleep when not connected to your phone.

Sd306 is the man! Just installed my kit completely based off this tutorial. Not being mechanically inclined, it took me about an hour from start to finish, even with crystal clear instructions lol
