Has anyone got Android Auto through the MMI working on there G01/G02 mine is a 2019 model so pre idrive 7 ...
Bimmer tech list one and it shows as compatible with my model but via the vin checker it states its not. I assume my head unit is the ID6 EVO i just cannot find anyone who has fitted one that's working thanks in advance |

The information about Android auto is incorrect. Android auto is compatible with ALL idrive 7 cars.

There is another box I found that looks promising but it looks like they only sell in bulk. I've emailed them and am waiting to see if they would be willing to sell in lesser quantities. (https://www.icartizan.com/product/wi...c3-series.html) Lastly, there is this Hifimax unit which replaces the entire screen, but I think you lose touch within idrive. They say its for a 2018 car, but I believe it should be no different than our 2019's (https://hifimaxnavi.com/products/and...or-bmw-x3-2018) Looks like they may have also figured out the audio issue also (https://hifimaxnavi.com/blogs/news/b...b-wire-diagram). So far I haven't bit the bullet on any of these. |

Any word on the C3 unit? Like you, I've been researching for a bit and came down to the same options you did. The C3 seems to have the most potential if their promo materials are true, but I can't seem to find a single Cartizan distributor in the US.
There is one more possibility, but it's actually an Android set top box, not Android Auto. https://indiworkshop.com/shop/androi...id-settop-box/ It requires this interface box: https://indiworkshop.com/shop/all-in...3-for-bmw-evo/ And here is the install in a 2019 G01: https://indiworkshop.com/blog/simple...-installation/ Last edited by TheFiX3r; 12-29-2020 at 04:16 PM.. |

Found a dealer in California that has the Cartizan C3 and even got a look-see at the manual. But it looks like they solve the audio problem with the usual AUX to USB adapter.
Documentation even suggests a Bluetooth or FM transmitter as an option. Oof. |

I too have been in the same boat looking for a plug in box solution. I held off for a while because all the ones I've seen has the resolutiom issue where it stretches in the 10" screen.
I did see the 'new' bimmertech unit which had new firmware that fixed this issue. I think the guys on on the F30 forums figured out a way to load the bimmertech updates onto the Andream unit. Anyway, I bit the bullet and bought the Andream unit, going to see how it works out, and see if they have an update that could fix the resolution issue. I suspect most of the units on the market are made by the same manufacturer but just branded differently. Not sure if Andream is the main manufacturer or not but they seem to have decent support is what I'm gathering. |

Well keep us informed if it works as its doing my nut in not being bale to get one working . If the andream works great and is the flashing process easy then. I dont mind paying the Bimmertech Price if they had one that worked. they keep telling they are working on it |

any updates? I'm close to pulling the trigger on an andream box, i just think they might be over-selling the "plug and play" part. I also think these boxes are almost identical with the only difference being who you buy it from and 4x4shop might be only slightly more reputable, and that might not be worth an extra 200 bucks (especially since they appear to have an older version without a wireless antenna for android auto. Also, These MMI boxes are really just RP type boards running custom linux kernels (like running kodi on a firestick) and all you are really paying for is the OEM cable connections. The Hifisense/inav etc head units are likely a better solution since you are getting a touchscreen interface for the same price as an MMI. However for some reason the 2019 G01 isn't an option for a head unit replacement. paying more than 250 for an MMI seems like robbery when a RP4 is 50 bucks and more powerful. If anyone can chime in on their Andream MMI experience I would love to hear about audio quality, install etc, otherwise I will post once I commit to buying one.
