Oh this is just f**cking great- it wouldn't accept UK as a home country, so I thought - hey I'll try another. Now my car is tagged to f**king Bulgaria :-/

So - sorry about this, but whenever I log into connected drive store, I can choose any other country than UK and go through. If I choose UK I get the:

INFORMATION ON YOUR HOME COUNTRY/REGION.
Discover the world of BMW ConnectedDrive in your home country/region. You are already registered there and can use BMW ConnectedDrive for your vehicle.

SELECT HOME COUNTRY/REGION

and it just loops back again.

I tried safari/chrome/private sessions and a Windoze PC. Same on all.

I take it others don't have this pain?

This has destroyed my evening. I'm 'pretty good' with computers. However this has completely foxed me. I got into the loop noted above with respect to the store not accepting the UK location. After trying several browsers and OS I thought to throw caution to the wind and select another random country. It would appear now I 'reside' in Bulgaria and it even disabled my two iPhone apps. When I re-authenticated them (since my rather Doctor Who like transit to the dark country confused it) they wanted car code validation (so off to the car to get the PIN). Twice now.

I cannot shake Bulgaria. Gonna start talking like bloody Borat soon (yes - i know ...).

I was wondering about this function the other day so I was happy to see that you can get safety camera warnings for £20 per year.

I logged into my BMW Connected account but it’s telling me this service isn’t available on my car.

Does anyone know the criteria for being able to get this?

I have a 2020 M40i with ID7.

It’s available for my ‘69 plate M40d but I’ve had my iDrive 7 updated at the dealers.

I believe it’s on November 2020 software onwards.

My build is Oct 2020 and it was available to purchase in Connected Drive.
Only had one long run in the car and the warnings came up for every speed camera en-route. On the M20 and M25 variable speed sections it correctly identified gantrys that actually had cameras fitted. It counts down from 1000 ft prior to the camera. Pity there is no sound warning, just the warning on the instrument panel or HUD.

SO. The good news. I finally moved back from the boondocks to good ole blighty. Bulgaria no more. Long story.

The bad news, on ID6 and with my 68 plate - store no likey me. Not available for purchase. I'm gutted :-(

I'll just have to stick to speed limits. Errrrrrrrr ...

Same for me, 69 plate, car with ID6 produced in March 2019, not available to purchase I'll be disappointed if you need ID7 for this.

You need ID7 and software version 07-20 or later for this to work.

Might be different in the UK but my car was built in Sept '20 and came with the July '20 software. Traffic camera info works on my car.

Thanks again. I found that and updated but still can't see anything has changed.

On the Connected Drive site it still says "In Progress" after I paid for it so I guess I'll just have to wait until something appears

Coming back from Aberdeen today the Safety Camera app was picking up the average speed cameras a treat, it picks them up a 1/4 mile out & the counts down in units of 200ft until you're at the camera. Not much use if the rozzers are using a radar gun as they will probably will be looking forward to feeling your collar even before you realise that they have your mug shot, but for fixed cameras it's great. One thing I noticed was that if the Lane departure warning is activated during the camera countdown it forgets the camera so be sure to indicate when changing lanes or it may just miss THAT camera 📸 that dishes out 3 points!!

I think it's a great add-on - I love it. However it gives me a false positive on a road I frequent because it thinks I'm on a road that I'm not, despite GPS knowing full well of the road I'm on. Let's just say that I drive on a highway that follows the middle of very wide street and it tells me there is a camera coming up, but it's on the street and not on the highway.

I've just purchased the BMW safety camera information for £20 and it appeared under the apps section pretty much right away but when I go to the maps, I can't see any cameras? Also I did a route from my house to the local Tesco and I pass a red light camera. It didn't work on the route guidance either? It's active under the app so the functionality is on.

I dont know if its worth mentioning but I don't have HUD and I dont have the speed display in my cluster (showing the speed limit) on the road I'm driving on. I do have the camera in the windscreen but I guess I dont have this functionality turned on. I know I can get this switched on for a couple of hundred pounds but does this need to be on in order for the speed/red light cameras to work? Interested to see if anyone who doesn't have the speed display in the cluster but the speed/red light camera functionality works?
