used a soup bowl and suction gun to get the water out.

This is very strange since I already resealed this door 1.5 years ago.

Checked all 4 sunroof drains.

Used zip tie to snake but they were mostly clear (and now very clear)



I did not remove the door card to verify the vapor barrier.



Theory: X3 was parked on a hill during the storm.

I suspect this tilted all water towards one drain hole and it overflowed.



Have a fan blowing on the wet carpet overnight.

Might remove door card for sanity, if motivated.

Else, will observe during next rainstorm (parked on level ground)

I closed the rear door, poured bucket of water on the window,
and saw that water was trickling out of the bottom of the door card seam, and trickling into the cabin.
So, not just the drain holes.

So, I removed the door card, and saw vapor barrier had an open gap that was damp.

I need to source some butyl tape. Home Depot was out.

Check and snake the drain holes at the bottom (underneath the car) too.
Those drain holes are not that large and can easily be inundated with rain water.

Just dealt with this. Butyl tape available cheap on Amazon too. At this age (mine is 2007) the foam barrier/insulation has torn from the butyl, so need to remove foam from butyl, and either replace foam or do a DIY plastic barrier.

I've got this same problem on both rear doors. I didn't read about it until recently how common of a problem it is. I plan on picking up some butyl tape soon. I recently replaced my rear carpet and found a very large amount of water on both sides (enough to get the shop vac out). I was thinking drains too until I saw the water on the inside of the door towards the bottom.
