Just checked BMW download manager and 2019-2 EVO Europe map update is available

Don't know what happened to 2019-1, checked yesterday and 2018-4 was still showing

...Funny. Same here. I checked this morning (EU time) and had nothing new. Saw your post, checked again, and saw a 27.52gb update available.

Will download and try it later this weekend...

Anyone installed yet? Wondering what really changes for my area... wish there was a way to know see the source from the maps...

Are you guys able to do a USB download of the full Europe map? It does not show as available for me, just the OTA version which does not happen. Still stuck on 2018-3. I had 2018-4 on my last G01 from last October!

Downloaded and installed 2019-2 EVO Europe map yesterday.
Looks like it may finally have updated the French speed limits!

We don't have OTA option, so USB variant better work. It did work well for me last time. Will try next week, when back to my car.

Strange! Mine OTA'd to 2019-1 a few weeks ago, and 2019-2 is now available on the update manager.

2019-1 was never on the update manager for some reason though.

Sorry for maybe the novice question but what's the difference between the OTA update and doing it via the download/USB route? Is the OTA one automatic and doesn't need any intervention?

Yes. And much smaller I would assume. The usb variant is a complete version.

The OTA splits the map into around 5 or 6 different regions within Europe so we would just get UK update, you can change the region within connected drive account but defaults to your home region

Saying that I've still never seen a OTA update come through

did the update this morning, took a while to download then about an hour to get it onto a USB using the Download App and about half an hour to upload it into the system. BMW need to speed up their FTP Site

It wasn't clear to me from your answers, so:
1. OTA update is a regional update - check your ConnectedDrive web for which is yours selected. Might be the wrong one. This one comes automatically (at least it does for me).
2. USB downloadable one is a for a whole "continent" so to say. Europe, NA, SA, Australia, ... This one have to be done manually - yourself or the dealer.

The OTA update happened on monday (give or take a day or two), so I went ahead to ConnectedDrive website and for my suprice, EVO 2019-2 is available for the download. Which is fine but useless for me, because I´m unable to load it onto a USB stick. Currently contacted BMW support, will see, how will that go.

By coincidence looked this morning as doing a bit of a European WW1 & WW2 battlefield tour in May and wanted to be up to date though also use Google maps and Waze. Download to Mac taking ages, I agree that they need more and better server capacity.

You are lucky. The USB option does not even exist for me. Two telephone calls with no result and three emails with no reply.
I suspect their enthusiasm dies a bit after you have paid for the car.

Where are you looking for it? Have you downloaded the BMWdownloadmanager program

Yes. I used to use it with my previous G01 30d. It worked well. It knows the new car but all greyed out. Connected Drive website only allows me to alter the OTA area. There is no option for a USB download.

I went on to the BMW UK website and under ownership clicked on BMW connected drive. I logged in and went to the home screen (not the store assuming you already have the service). I was presented with a screen of boxes with orange lettering.

I selected the last one , map update which took me to a screen on which I selected manual update (for an IMac in my case) which downloaded update manager (I had downloaded it before but redownloaded in case it had been updated). I then used it to download the data file to the Mac (it seems to be fussy about usb drives so I loaded to the Mac (was a bit slow first then copied it to the usb.


The usb loaded to the car no bother

Thanks for the thought but I can get up to the 'Map Update' bit, either your way or through Remote Cockpit and Control but have no option for manual update available, only automatic update and FAQs.
