torque converter

"F90 M5 has an eight-speed automatic with a proper torque converter. This transmission will lock out its torque converter once you've pulled away from a stop for quicker response."

Does anyone know if the X3M/X4M has the proper torque converter like the M5? That way I don't have to put it in launch control but instead just rev'd up to 2700 rpm and let off the brakes.

The X3/4M uses essentially the same transmission as the M5. You still have to use launch control to get the quickest acceleration times.

Yes, you can brake boost from the stop. In S3, it won’t shift automatically (not like in LC) so you have to shift quickly.

Lol...this is not an "issue"

Did you not test drive the car before you bought it?

low torque at low rpms is one of the hidden strengths of S58. While it may give you a lag feel from the stop, it also protects the engine/drivetrain at low rpms. Why strength? Because you can easily add 40+% extra torque without blowing up the powertrain. Isn’t it wonderful?

just programme button 1 or 2 to be ready for launch - and you can release the brake at whatever launch point you like

I felt it still lagged a bit and the brakes can only hold up to 2000rpm, anymore and the car start moving forward.

Ohhh... I had the same problem with the brakes. You need to burnish the brakes.

You don't use your brakes hard enough lol

Do a stop from about 100 as hard as you can...

You won't have problems with the brakes holding anymore after that. I can literally hold launch control for 10 seconds and the car isn't moving.

The hidden beauty of this, for me at least, is that in D1 (in Efficiency or Sport) the car feels as usable as one could ask for from a daily driver... its just perrrrrfect..

I did LC yesterday for the first time, with this post on my mind, I stood on the brakes putting the pedal into the carpet and it holds with zero issues revs build to 3k, step off the brake and the rears slip for a split second and it spits you down the road.

Is your car stock or tune? Mine is tuned and holds a little more horsepower than yours. I'm thinking that's why my brakes can't handle those additional power.

Stock, how much more power are you making below 3k though with the tune? Plenty of guys with a tune seem to be able to hold it on the brakes and do dragy runs around 7-7.5 to 100 and 1/4s in the 10's.

I need a clear straight answer here. Does this thing downshift like a DCT? For example on 3-2 do you get a good rev match and the right sounds and sensations? Yes or no.

I'm not sure how much more power, but I should post a video. I think those that posted those numbers are doing LC.
