Issues with brand X3M - need some help

Hi All,

I took delivery of my brand new X3M yesterday and already having some issues. Firstly, BMW told me that there was a drive train issue with the car that should go away by itself after a software update, doesn't seem to be an issue. However, Check out these photos of the welding on the door and boot lid.

It's leaking oil! The welding looks so bad, surely this is a defective set of panels, can anyone send me photos of their X3M door and boot so I can compare and show BMW? I've contacted BMW, they will call me during the week.

The welding on the boot has sharp parts that could stab someone's finger...

It's normal. The holes are there for water to drain out.

ashlahton All the areas that you're pointing out & expressing concerns with here... are completely normal. The hollow corners & the inside of thew lower door panels, those are built in drainage holes for water. The yellow stuff is a cosmoline coating to prevent rust. And any jagged edge that the factory didn't catch, can simply be filed down & touched up with factory paint within a matter of 2-3 minutes.

The oily stuff is actually wax to prevent rusting. I had that crap coming out of the small oil on tailgate by the latch. Super fun cleaning that up. See this post:

That oily yellow wax like stuff is actually called Cosmoline. It can be removed within seconds with some simple brake cleaner. I hope these relatively minor things can be addressed with ease so you can quickly begin enjoying your X3 M.
