Open grilles are no longer needed with electric motors... This design is efficiency driven.

Wow, I thought folks were kind harsh with the Kia comparisons ... so I googled it.

Kia calls it their "tiger's nose" grill design. BMW would be wise to retain a clear differentiation between kidneys and noses.

I was making fun on the other thread with the new M2 CP nostrils saying that since they unite them all they need to do now is to stretch the middle section and they will look like Kia, Now this...

It seems that BMW lost its way.

Many times I am looking at designers trying to give their cars a certain identity. Some will kill to own the kidney grills, a hoffmeister kink, dual angel eyes and any other element that makes a statement and define a strong identity.
Others, are stupid and wash it.

BMW latest renders and designs are just washing away a century of history and visual DNA. They are destroying their own identity.
Too much plastic surgery is never beneficial.

To be futuristic is one thing, to be dumb is another.
And to be able to properly be conservative and mold an element in futuristic way without destroying it, is an art.
Obviously, there is no art in BMW design department. Just kitsch designers and clueless shareholders...

Hope is a stupid and bad joke, I wouldn't buy a car that looks like KIA.

Slap 10 ///M badges on it and it's all good

This grill nonsense isn't limited to BMW (see below). It's an industry thing and everyone is doing it.

Blame lack of imagination around design due to collision regulations, but the fact is BMW is once again following the masses and mass market rather than being a leader.

Numb filtered steering, lack of road feel, bloat—the grill is just more of the same.

Once a leader now a follower. Pretty sad.

Meh. Things evolve. If I want a classic BMW I'll buy one on autotrader. New cars will be compared to new cars. AFAIC BMW needs to evolve much like everyone else. The new M5 is a step in the right direction. The M2 CS is what the M2 should have been. We'll see what the new M3 will be, and as long as the ix3 retains the i3 spirit with improvements in battery range, I'm in.

Oh boy! Please no...KIA written all over it. I never thought KIA vehicles would ever be used as inspiration for anything other then affordable transportation choice. BMW stop it right now!

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like this direction for the i car's grill. Keeps it within the family while having its own identity.

For those saying it's too Kia looking, don't forget BMW has ALWAYS had the twin kidney grills, if anything the Kia grills are too BMW looking, not the other way around.

Looks too much like a Kia, please don't dilute the brand with that style of grill.

Kidneys are plural, this is singular. Time to come up with a new name BMW, perhaps forehead grill.
