RG Sport - Sterckenn CF Front Lip DIY

Guys,

This is the first Sterckenn Carbon Fiber Front Lip that I managed to install in house to a local customer.
You guys might've asked, why I don't have one installed on my ride.
Answer, because I underestimated the qty for initial order, so I have to give up my slot to you guys.
Mine will come on the 3rd shipment. So I won't have it for another month.

Anyway, back to the subject.
I read and tried to follow the installation instruction that came with the product, and decided to do it different way.
Thank you to MarinoB for sharing his installation way.

Disclaimer: This instruction is as an alternative method for easy installation if you are going to apply this just for aesthetic purpose. Always recommended to follow the manufacturer's installation instruction and hardware.

Tools needed:
- 8mm socket
- Masking tape and Sharpie marker
- 1/4" drill bit and anything smaller for initial hole

Optional part (This is critical if you want to have a very easy installation):
- 9pcs Plastic Rivet

- Plastic Rivet tool, here is the link to Amazon listing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007QV2E50..._Y9o-EbRS1NYAJ

Step 1:
- Remove 4x 8mm screws from the front bumper lower center and 1x 8mm screw on each lower side of the front bumper.

Size: 410.8 KB

Step 2:
- Temporarily install the front lip and secure snugly with 8mm screws (I start with the middle piece first), put masking tape on the bumper where it lines up to the front lip's hole.
- Adjust the front lip so it is centered and evenly positioned. Once you are satisfied, tighten the 8mm screws.
- For you who are brave, you can start drilling with smaller bit, and finalize it with 1/4" bit. For you who have a faint heart, go ahead use sharpie and mark the center hole to the masking tape. Then remove the lip, and start drilling.
Be careful not to go too far since you are at risk on drilling through the top part of the bumper.

Size: 429.1 KB

Step 3:
- Re-install the lip (if you remove it before drilling the bumper), then use the 8mm screws, center the lip, and tighten the screws. Finishing it up with the plastic rivets instead of the supplied screws.

Repeat the same process for the left and right lips.

Enjoy the pictures of final products.

Use 1-1/2” hex head pole barn screws to mount the side pieces.

Looks awesome. Torn between it and the RKP lip. can't go wrong either way I guess, which is a good place to be.

Unrelated to the lip (though I really like it). Are those 21" or 22" HF2s on the black car? I can't see the tire size in the pictures. HF3s look very clean on the X3M.
