Maybe BMW see this as a product that might stop X3 drivers moving to the Porsche Macan? Exterior design is not one of BMW's strengths and here is another reason why that's true! Mind you the Macan hardly looks a beauty!

I'm really looking forward to the X4, just wish the interiour would be more premium than the F25, which imo, is boring and cheap looking inside.
But the E70 and current X6 looks identical inside so, i guess, it will be the same story all over again.
A great looking exteriour on the X4, but once inside, you fall asleep.

If this is anything like the concept, it will be a killer. I find the x6 too long.

Apologies for the crude nature of the post, I just have a gripe when a car's purpose becomes very muddled due to an attempt to capitalize on weird niche market share.

Looks promising. I didn't like the M235i spy photos (which were better quality than these) but love the official car so I wouldn't give my final judgment based on these.

I wonder when folks will stop complaining that BMW is making too many cars and realize that that's just the way the company is now. If it makes them more money and allows them to give us more awesome in the cars that we do want then what's the issue. Deal with it or move on. No whining necessary.

the X1 sounds exactly like the type of car you're looking for, i'd say

Definitely agree.. My fiance' is getting very excited about the X4.. there are two major problems, neither are deal breakers but still the jury is out:

1. The interior, at least according to the spy shots doesnt have the updated and modern look of the new X3 (or any of the new BMWs) - supposedly the interior retains the old hood style navi setup, etc... -

2. No panoramic sunroof... I get it if the roof is sloped and it cannot accomodate a panoroof, it is what it is... but I love it on several other cars I've driven lately, and was really hoping our next vehicle would have one.

If I can make my peace with those two issues, I think we will have a winner on our hands.

As for myself, I'm torn right now between an M235i and a 435i Gran Coupe .... ultimately depend on whether we'll need those two extra doors anytime soon but that's okay because I have a few years till I'm ready to make a decision on replacing my e90 335i

Funny you say that... its true... looks are subjective. Because personally I think the Macan looks like complete ass... and the X4 concept was perfection... If the production version looks like the concept (and its seeming to do so, so far) - the X4 > Macan pics I've been seeing float around IMO.

Exactly, if this helps the bottom line on the X3's platform. Rakes' em' in some more cash to get that M2 out with some amazing developments, i say make a variation of the variation of the variation. Make whatever the hell ya want! lol

I think I will draw the line at Pickup Trucks though. Even though for some reason the idea of a el-camino or maybe Ranger sized, X3 sounds kinda cool to me lol

They reduce shadows.

Yes this is the BMW X4 with the M Sport packet.
The New BMW X4 will be available in model lines.

Since the car is on a rooftop I presume these are taken by a zoom lense therefore all details are blurred.
The car is basically the concept but with the concept detailing removed.

The new X4 arrives at a very crucial time for the premium mid-entry segment.
X4 along with the Porsche Macan will have the market to itself in regards to the customer wanting a sportier SAV. It will also help in markets which demanded a car like the X4 especially when the X6 is bigger and costs more.

In Europe X4 will be offered with entry level engines such as the 20d and will be popular especially in areas that ask more for legislative taxes.
