I'd go with the BMW oil. Check your trunk, you should have a bottle of 1L spare oil. Then get the code from the bottle and order online.

I entered my reg no. (mine's a 30d) on the Castrol site and it recommended either Magnatec Stop-Start 5W-30 C3 or Magnatec 5W-40 C3.

The BMW oil is now from Shell rather than Castrol.

On the Shell site, for my reg it recommended Helix Ultra ECT C3 5W-30 or Helix Ultra Professional AM-L 5W-30.

For the 30d you need 6.5 litres and it tells you that on both sites too.

I dropped my all out last week at 9k miles, the next will be with BMW on my service pack.

All oil must be LL-04 spec, BMW's own is Shell and they use 0w30 on the 2d.

With a filter change its 5ltrs, best price I could find was here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-B...gAAOSwjDZYlK00

I also bought a genuine BMW oil filter.

Anyone have a good source they're comfortable recommending for the United States?

Where's this stored - pretty sure I didn't get one with my car.
