The X5M and X6M don't have fender flares so an expectation of them to appear on the upcoming X3M and X4M unfortunately not going to happen.
Both models should have some serious fender flares that are not only wide but offer an aggressive front valance and wide quarter panels that looks like it will eat other cars. And the rear treatment should look pissed off and be wide enough to let other motorists know what just passed them, while the snarling exhaust note washes over them. And width should be a concern to the driver while just parking due to its "wide hips" and proximity other cars! |

I'm pretty sure thats idrive 7 you're looking at. At least it looks like what I have in my 2019 X5.

We love the G01 so we are pretty excited to get our hands on the F97!

Pretty close.
I do NOT like the tacky techy Rims at all. BMW M Division really need to put on wider rear Wheels and some fender flares. And a more aggressive hood. I still think the closed kidney grill aerodynamic plastic thing is a retarded concept. |

I still think this vehicle is going to drive amazing and that's really all that matters.
But in this case M stands for Mediocre regarding any upgrades to the exterior body styling. It's truly a missed opportunity. Just throwing on some "M" rearview mirrors doesn't make it look tough or cool or especially bad ass which it totally should. This is a long time coming for these two vehicles. If it's a quality product it will do extremely well here in the States. But why not make it look amazing as well. |

it looks more and more like an updated E84 X1 .. which isn't a bad thing at all in my opinion. Seems like @law has been tempering expectations... as an X1 owner... I agree.. I'm not sure monster flares ever have been an M SAV feature. I expect the major differences will be suspension tuning, lower ride height, nicer seats, steering wheel, and more M powah Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 01-18-2019 at 02:15 PM.. |

I, too, was a fan of the wheel arch extensions on the X5 M, much more fitting for an M SAV than a widebody/fender flares. EDIT: After looking at the photos again, the arches in the spy photo do appear to be similar to the M-Sport/M40i model. Another look from similar angles for comparison's sake: X3 M X3 M40i

+1 see them and there is no way an X3/4M was never going to have anything other than these. An SAV just wouldn't get the same bulging treatment as an F30 to F80 needs for a wider track. WE would all probably like its aggressive look but not realistically happening.

Looks like you guys are digging around inside id7 and found the x3m variant? Anything else in there? Perhaps the new X5M?

Not sure if it's a big enough difference to warrant paying ~8-10k over a M40i.

Definitely not coming out "exactly as we hoped" - looks good but lacks aggression. My guess is that they cared more about the pocketbooks of people they can upsell vs. the enthusiasts who are looking for a hot SUV like this. Oh well, we get M3 Pure so cant complain!

I was going to mention the same thing. Those black levels are awful. Such an easy way for them to increase margins. Displays like this are dirt cheap and they get to charge more!

Good to see tachometer rotating the "correct" way on the new M models.

The dash is disappointing as prior model updates mentioned it getting a new dash. It looks like the 6WB Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster in my X3 with updated graphics like the M5.
We still don't know what M versions of the 3er and X5 will have as their non M dashes don't have the rings in the instrument binnacle. A new dash to me means the 3er and X5 dash which has starting from L to R on US models the buttons for the headlights instead of the rotary knob, non circular gauges, start stop button moved to the center console, HVAC buttons blended with the vents higher up and the new center console and shifter. I don't care if the body is wider in fact I prefer it to stay less than 75 inches wide due to a tight garage but hope it still looks menacing as other M versions in person. And it will with that engine. |

it's an SUV/SAV.. and to me... making it even wider and fatter with arches will make it even LESS aerodynamic and create more drag... |
