BMWZ4, where did you get those? I live in Oakville and beginning to think about winter. My M40i is leased though, so don't want to spend a fortune on snows.

You could also go for square 245s all the way around.
Are you using 19x8.5 for all 4 wheels? Do you have more pics I want to see how it looks overall

I only mounted the front wheel to test it. I won’t have full pics until Halloween. I used 4 - 8.5” wheels since 255 winters aren’t wide enough for 9.5” wheel.

If going with 20" winters - what tire size(s) would be recommended? And would I need to go with a staggered setup or would square be okay?

Thinking of going with 20 X 9 unless there's a different specs that will provide more options (and pricing) on tires.

Anyone else having trouble finding the 699M Winter set?

I had a dealer I bookmarked because they had the set for $2,900 - and now they're out of stock and listing the price at $3,700+. In general I'm having trouble finding the full set on the various dealers' sites.

Can’t help you as I’m on the other side of the pond, but I just bought a set of 699M today to be used as winter wheels. We’re required by law to have winter tires between December and March, but they’re usually on between Nov-Apr. So this time I opted for a proper set.

I've been trying to get a jump on it, but I talked to my dealer here in the States and they said they won't be getting winter sets in until October. Seems crazy to me.

This is why I ordered a set of 20x8.5 Matte Graphite Silver O.Z. Superturismo Dakar wheels with 245/45R20 Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires from TireRack.

The wheels look great, the tires are the same as the ones on the OEM 699M winter set.

The only issue is that the center cup is slightly bigger than the OEM, so the I won't be having the BMW logo on the wheels. Oh, well...

What are the Pirelli Scorpions like? Say, in comparison to Sottozero 3's or Conti TS850P which are considered high-performance winter tyres.

I can try them on over the weekend, but we are still in the 70s-80s, so they won't stay on until we dip into the low 40s.

I will snag a few pics though

if going with 20 X 9 for winters - would 245/45/20 all around work out okay?

Sounds about Right. ET should probably be around 35 to match stock track width.

Can anyone help me figure out which wheels I can buy that:

(1) Fit my 2018 X3 M40i;
(2) Fit the winter tires I already own - Pirelli Scorpion P255/45 R20 105V
(3) Which spacers are needed to make the install flush?

Thanks!

You can get some hints here:

https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...h=9&offset2=30

Note that the circumference is about -1.2% wrong, so it should be fine.

I.e. I suggest a 20x8" rim with ET around 30.

Personally I wouldn't run with spaces, especially in winter, to keep the track width the car was designed for.

So is the consensus that 20x9 will fit? Or is too wide for the front?
I am looking at a few rims, but the ones I like most are 20x9 ET 32, and tire sites are telling me this size does not fit our vehicle, but 20x8.5 ET 35 will.

ET 32 is going to be really close to the caliper on the front, I'm running 8.5 ET 25 and they fit, the difference is only 1mm between mine and 9 ET32, but you want a few mm between the face of the caliper and the wheel spokes. It would probably be fine at ET32, but it will be pretty tight.

Someone posted the maximum widths, but I can't remember now. Maximum stock width for the front is 8.5, yes. Better safe than sorry.

Couldn't you also just get a lower offset, like 25mm to push them out a bit from the brakes?

I just test mounted my 19" 32mm offset and while they are tight, there is still about 1/8" between the rim and the top of the breaks brakes. Less than the OEM but still enough
