A tire option I found for the 21" crowd who wants to go non RFT
I have been searching around for tire options to go non RFT, or additional RFT options. Like many of you, I have been underwhelmed with the tire selection, as well as the prices. After doing some research, I found that Continental Sport Contact 5P's should be an excellent fit. They have the required sidewall strength, the size of the tires on the size of our stock rim is approved by the manufacturer, they have a smaller rotational different between front and rear compared to stock, and also only cost about $1k for a full set in the US. Additionally the tire width is only .4" wider on both ends, so there should be no fitment issues.
Just an FYI, I know many people are recommending the X3M configuration of PS4S, but that configuration actually has a higher rolling diameter difference, and those 265's are going to be pretty darn stretched on 9.5" wheels. I wouldn't say Conti's are my first choice, but for the price difference vs RFT as well as PS4's on just a family car, I'll save the money and just grab a can of slime. Below is my "research" ---------------------------- Pzero 245/40/21 100Y XL 9.8" Width 28.7 diameter 724 Rev Mile Pzero 275/35/21 103Y XL 11" Width 28.5" diameter 729 Rev Mile .7% Rotational difference Continental Sport Contact 5P 255/40/21 102Y XL 10.2" Width 29" diameter 716 Rev Mile Approved Rim Width 8.5-10 https://www.continentaltire.com/prod...5540r21-102y-0 1.04% more rolling diameter from stock Continental Sport Contact 5P 285/35/21 105Y XL 11.4" Width 28.9" Diameter 720 Rev Mile Approved Rim Width 9.5-11.0 https://www.continentaltire.com/prod...-28535r21-105y 1.4% more rolling diameter from stock Overall .3% Rotational Difference between front and rear (.4% less than stock) |

Also, if you want to know how ridiculous the pricing of the tires of our vehicles are, look up ContisportContact 5 with Contiseal (self sealing) tires that go on the Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith, they are the same size as above, and cost about $1400 a set on Tire rack. Might be a nice option if you still want the RFT option, and save a few hundred bucks. Apparently the Contiseal doesn't need to be repaired and can still be drive as normal after a puncture (within limits of course).
