Got my VIN:

WBA TY92 0 8 0 L xxxxxx

but looking at attached “decoding info” I’d love to know what model TY92 represents.... I’m assuming a UK spec M40i

Worked out that the L means it’s being manufacturer in Spartanburg.

VIN not yet recognised in BMW Connected Drive app or BMW Drivers Guide app

Excited as the car is due to head into production this week... the delivery date is hopefully going to fly in now
Will be good and make sense if they are but the configurator is showing the mirror caps as being colour coded to the car.

My car is due to go into production this week too
Yep, noticed that too. That's why I'm hoping it's the case that they are fully blacked out. If not, will use the allocated £150 I planned for making this happen after the car arrives.

Once we the car is in production update, how long does it take for actual delivery of the car in the US?

Noticed that, but if you go into the model first, the link to the configurator is still there...

Figure it's in different phases of production for about a week. After that, delivery will depend on where you live. For Connecticut, it'll be one to two weeks after production ends.

VIN not yet recognised in BMW Connected Drive app or BMW Drivers Guide app
Interesting how the year code in these VINs are shown as a zero, which apparently isn't allowed in a model year digit (U, Z or 0 not allowed normally in this identifier).

WBA = BMW AG
TY92 = X3 M40i
0 = Seat Belts
7 = Check Digit
0 = Model Year??
L = Spartanburg

Characters 12-17 are the unique serial number for each car thereafter.

I would have thought the 0 Model Year would have been L actually for 2020, so I wonder if a combination of 0L is Spartanburg 2020.

Not entirely sure and a bit confusing, based on content I've read online...

Yeah worked most of it out from that “decoder” doc the bits that confused me were the model being 92TY (which I assumed was the UK/RHD M40i) and then the 0 for restraint system - I’d have thought it would be more that just seat belts when there are options showing airbags etc.

Yeah, was wondering that too around the safety systems for sure...

Now, what is more interesting, is that when I "decoded" my VIN using https://decoder.bvzine.com I received the following:

Note the power figure of 285Kw (which equates to 382bhp).....living in hope, living in hope (as I thought the bhp increase was limited to US market)

Got an update from my dealer that the car had completed its journey through Spartanburg and is now on its way to port.

Now the long wait for it to ship to Europe and over to the UK and into my awaiting hands...

Now got access to my vehicle handbook digitally and now to start reading through it

My X3 M40i is status 150 now and I have the vin# already. I also confirmed the B58 engine with 382HP. It has the same engine code as the 2020 M340. I can't wait for it to get here.

Interesting, as I still cannot add my vehicle to either ConnectedDrive account or use the VIN in the BMW Drivers Guide app

My vehicle is a status 5300 (Pre Assembly Start) so yours must be ahead of mine Lochview.

Hi Mike,

I can't add to connected drive as it says not yet configured for it, but was able to download my manual from Wednesday which is when the car left the production plant.

Hopefully you'll not have long to wait...

Good to know I'm not the only one Loch. Hopefully next week I'll have access to the Drivers Guide for my car.

Hoping that Hurricane Dorian doesn't impact your cars (or mine) shipping too much. I assume they ship them out of Charleston, which was quite badly hit by the hurricane I believe.
