Getting close to pulling the trigger on an M40i order but can't decide on exterior colour to go with the Oyster - Phytonic or Carbon Black.......

Dealer has a fully loaded stock M40i in Sapphire Black with Ivory White merino, but is pre LCI and has the digital cockpit rather then the new live cockpit. Not sure about either the leather or the paint, in terms of dirty sticky granddaughters and swirls/holograms respectively.

Anyone care to offer thoughts/recommendations etc??

The newest model is not really the LCI, but it's as much of an LCI Lite as I've ever seen BMW do. It's much more than Live Cockpit Pro. And although it's impossible to keep up with the latest and greatest, I would never start off behind.

In terms of a new build, I think Phytonic looks spectacular on the X3/4.

I'm definitely leaning towards Phytonic, dealer also has a fully loaded stock car in PB but it has black leather which I'm not a massive fan of - not a great colour combo IMO and without the pano sunroof the interior is just too dark for my liking.

Much as I'm impatient to switch, I guess I'll have to wait for a build slot....

You'll be happier in the long run.

• Carbon Fiber trim
• Executive pkg
• Adaptive M suspension
• Acoustic glass
• Rear manual side window shades
• Harmon Kardon
• 19" summer tires

The acoustic glass is a P1 option, so the car immediately received a production number. Chose 19" wheels; the runflats will be immediately ditched and 19" Nokian Hakka R3 snow tires will be installed before delivery. In the next few months I'll find some staggered 20's I like and build-up a set of summer wheels. I'm hoping the car hits the dealer around Thanksgiving; if BMW offers their on again/off again Holiday incentives I can take advantage of that as well as the great deal I received.

The vert had a Dinan tuner and went like stink, hopefully the X3 with 2020's additional power is close to the Dinan. We'll see if Dinan introduces a tuner for 2020 X3 M40; if so that will be next
Update: the X3 has been dispatched from the Greer SC factory; hoping it's < 2 weeks to the Portland dealer. I have a 90 day lock on the October incentives; the BMWNA Road Home incentives run through 12/3/19. I should have my choice of Oct, Nov, or Dec incentives. With luck, BMW NA will sweeten the Road Home incentives 12/4 through the end of the year. The dealer is installing Nokian Hakkapelitta R3's on the factory 19's, and I've ordered a staggered set of 20" BBS CCR wheels and Michi PS AS/3+ rubber as my "summer" wheels.

I'm not far from you; I was told 15-20 days from Spartanburg to WA/OR

My X4M40I production started on 10/31 as well and was told completion would be 11/13. Got an update last night and told completion will be 11/12/19. I am also Flemenco Red. I wonder do they paint all the same color one after the other, as this color is not seen very often as it is not available on the X3's?

I've been in the Spartanburg factory - the cars are not batched by paint color, sometimes only one car comes down the line in one color and the next car is a different color.

OK, things have moved on somewhat in the past week.

As the UK offers with 2.9% APR and around 19% discount/dealer contribution only apply to cars registered before 31.12.19 and the support and low finance rates disappear in January, ordering to my preferred spec wasn't an option. Just as well, because I've now managed to get one from the dealer network that's not to a spec I might have originally chosen, but is actually a better combo I think;

X3 M40i in Sophisto Grey Xirallic
Black Vernasca leather
M Sport + with adaptive suspension, extended gloss shadowline & SPG
Tech Pack with HK & HUD
Live Cockpit Professional
21" 718M wheels

Hopefully should be able to pick up within a week or so, and will post pics when it arrives. Roll on 1,201 miles

Is that the target? Going in to JC Aberdeen tomorrow to see about one but doubt they will offer anything near that?

I’d be aiming for at least £10k off list. Vardy in Edinburgh were offering £479 pm with £999 deposit, which they offered to pay if you’re trading in a BMW so total contribution was more than that.

That’s on basic spec which you won’t get, so in reality the £479 isn’t achievable. I’ve ended up with a car that has M Sport + and Tech packs with £0 in and £550 pm. Discount is £10.5k on list.

Good luck. I know Vardy still have at least 2 stock M40i’s with a similar spec and AyrshireColin picked up a similar deal from Fairbairn in Irvine, so there are still some cars out there. John Clark are usually quite competitive.

well the car they have is £63.2k (nearly everything) and offered at £57.5 so guess that is £5.7k BMW contribution plus £2.5k from them giving a total of £8.2k.

£5k deposit, £582p/m and GFV £27k over 4years.

maybe try and squeeze them more - doubt they will have £2k to offer me though

Well, I finally picked up my cognac + brushed aluminum trim M40i yesterday, and I am in love with the combo! Works very nicely in person. Here are some pics:

Looks awesome, nice combo. Would say that is an accurate color depiction of Cognac leather? I have seen so many different colors (via internet pics) of the color Cognac that my eyes are not sure what to believe.

Thanks

Getting ready to place an order. This is a build code link; I know I have to review everything line by line once I actually get into the dealer. So just using the configurator for now (and need to tweak a few things on the actual order).

Dealer says 6 to 8 weeks to delivery from the time we place the order. We will see.

Nice build. You might want to research the front ventilated seats, or go sit in them. Like many people have said on here those seats leave a lot to be desired. Your derrière will be very happy---with the other (non vented) seats.

Hmm I would say yes, that is what it looks like on an overcast day. I just snapped the pics quickly with my iPhone 11. No filter or anything. It does look pretty different depending on the light, like other brown leather colors. I would say cognac has more “orange” than the saddle brown on my E90. I have no complaints about the tone, it looks great. Definitely appreciate the X3 not getting the full cognac lower dash like the 3-series.

Looks great! Congrats! That's my first choice but however my dealer says they only have the Phytonic/black or Sophisto/cognac available. Decisions.. sigh
