I like what you have done with the 12mms. Does not look like they were added on but rather very natural factory stance. Nice work. Blackening is gorgeous in the right lighting and popular but not my first choice. I feel it diminishes the definition of valuable unique styling too much.

Looks great with all the black bits, just need to do the front bumper 'boomerangs' now
I know right , though I'm still a little undecided but I'm sure once it was done It would be better.
Not sure if I need to change the whole part or just the cerium grey boomerangs.

You have to remove the whole part, then unclip the boomerang from the back, so glad I did mine:

Well you've just made me want to do it now.. Thanks for the photo and advice..
Is it easy to remove the whole piece and can this be done from the front without having access to the back of the part.

It is possible to remove them from the front, but definitely a fair bit harder than the kidney grilles. Using a plastic pry tool stick it into the very top to release the top clips, you need to be quite aggressive with it, once the top's released it's then quite easy releasing the rest of the clips.

Then removing the boomerangs is quite tricky, use a small flat blade screwdriver to release each clip in turn whilst pulling the rangs from the front. Don't be tempted to lever the rangs from the front as they'll get damaged.

The part in red, and there's a wire to unclip from the parking sensor. The green part also needs to be partially unclipped so it can be unclipped from the red part:

thank you Walnut Creek Car Wash!

Didn't happen today but last week...
Against my better judgment, as well as being lazy, I went to the local "hand car wash" and this is how I was delivered my X3. They denied it happened there of course. As most of you are I'm sure, I am very aware of the shape my cars are in at all times. We all look back at our cars whenever we walk away from them😊 so I am positive this happened at the wash. Looks like to me they used a pressure washer. So I have ordered a replacement and look forward to reapplying these stripes. Not fun. Guess I will not be going to this wash anymore! Lesson learned. 🙁

That looks like a protective film going off to me. i don't believe a pressure washer could damage a paint like this.

Installed aftermarket trailer hitch so I could slap the Thule Terrapin on the back for an upcoming move. Reused the inductive wiring harness that I had on my previously leased X5. All is well. Very simple DIY but I strongly recommend having a second person available for removal and reinstallation of the bumper.

Etrailer.com has all the bits.
