I recently took delivery of a brand new X3 30e and would like to sell it privately. It has about 480 miles on it. I bought it during peak COVID and didn't test drive it beforehand. I am coming out of a X5 40e and the X3 is not the car for me. If anyone has thoughts on the best way to sell a practically brand new car, I'm all ears!

This is a question that's going to be difficult to answer. I've found that when starting with a full battery for a 150 mile trip I end up recording around 40 miles on battery rather than the suggested 27. A lot depends on the kind of roads you use but so far I've yet to drop below a recorded 40 mpg which would obviously reduce as the miles increased.

ianfmarcus, what exacty didn't you like about x3 30e? X5 is awfully more expensive here in Europe...
About ranges, i can drive 30-40km with batter only. Depends very much on circumstances - load, tempreature, city/road, trailer etc. Anyway daily drivingt to work and supermarket fully electrically for 2-3 days! During the summertime we have visited summer cottage 2-3 times a week which means more than average road driving with empty battery, and petrol consumption 5 liter/100km - me happy. X3 30e is easy and soft to drive, comfort is high and noise level low. Hybrid options are reasonable and easy to manage, as well as other controls, gearbox and gas/battery operate seamlessly. Trunk floor is very high but space is adequate. Our 20kg wheaten terrier dog prefers sitting in the trunk without the cage and that's ok for us. I guess I shoud test drive the MB and Volvo too now, that I'm stuck with this! Last edited by Juhazi; 08-27-2020 at 01:10 PM.. |

Has anyone else noticed that while the car is charging the aux supplies are live. I noticed tonight that after the car had been on charge for a couple of hours that the dashcam was recording.

BMW is recalling 26,700 of its plug-in hybrid models due to concerns over the safety of their batteries. Affected models include plug-in hybrid versions of the entire X range of SUVs, along with the 2 Series Active Tourer MPV, 3, 5 and 7 Series saloons, i8 Coupe and Roadster and the MINI Countryman. Reports suggest that cars built between 20 January and 18 September 2020 are affected. |

Wow, it seems to be the same recall as previously mentioned at this forum but now with an even wider date range. If I correctly recall the previous date range mentioned cars build (or component period) between was march to august 2020. Mine was build in Dec 2019 so I seem to out of that range. Has anyone outside US been contacted related to this recall yet?

I've read tens of articles about this now. BMW and Ford are developing and testing procedures for faulty Samsung batteries. Obviously x-ray check isn't reality and they must change all batteries. Takes some time to get good ones to install?
I haven't got or read about any other customers directly contacted about this - we have only these articles. This is very sad, in modern times, customers with email and mobile phones with applications it should be easy! I won't stop charging my February-car until I get the message! I don't know the exact date of release. My VIN is WBATS1106L9C365** |

The recall is here:
https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=20V490000 It lists all the notices that the dealer's receives and also mentions that customers aren't being contacted until November. It seems the faults ended in August production, but who knows. I'm considering ordering an X3 30e, but i want to make sure i can refuse delivery if its under recall when its ready. It's all pretty crappy. |

Reports and actions have different timetable in all countries. Most of the cars were sold in Europe (EU)
USA has best consumer protection laws! |

Ah makes sense. That jives with what a few dealers have told me as well. They had some inventory that they weren't allowed to sell.

Now dealership #2, said no such thing, and I was able to buy the 30e, no problems. Fast forward 6 weeks, and bam! Recall. Is it possible that the dealership knew about the recall, but wanted to make the sale anyway? |

If you're still concerned though, check out NHSTA and plug in the VIN of any car you're considering purchasing before buying it: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls |
