Dinan Filters
At 3:05 in this video, what is the white filter behind the factory filter? Is that a carbon or OPF filter? Looks like they would be removable if in fact I have them on my car. More flow?

They can be pretty easily removed with proper force from a screwdriver. The X3/4 M technical documents on the board specify that they should NOT be removed, yet they’re supposed to be replaced at service intervals?? And IIRC they’re like $100 to replace. Makes no sense to me. Just take em out. Better yet, get a RKTunes or BMS intake so you can really hear the turbos |

Removing the carbon filters on the intake of my f90m5 resulted in a bit more induction noise ( a welcome change). The f97 may have a similar result and I intend to remove them when i change my filters soon
Btw Rest of the world cars don't have these carbon filters - it's a USA emissions thing. |

I completed the carbon filter removal and Dinan filter swap this morning and went for a short joy ride. I also have the Dinan X Pipe installed.
Definitely a but more growl to the engine and some induction noise. And no noticeable turbo noise, which is good for me. I don't care for it. The throttle feels a bit punchier in the mid range. All in all a good mod and it took me about 20 minutes to do. |
