My First SUV: 2016 X3 xline Deep Sea Blue
Hello everyone!
Last weekend I traded in my F30 320d Luxury for a roomier X3 xLine xDrive20d. It wasn't my original intention to buy a deep sea blue one with beige interior, but when it was offered to me I couldn't refuse it. When I saw it in person my jaw dropped. The colour has depth but is vivid and the beige leather and headliner make the car feel very spacious - it's a lovely cabin to be inside. I test drove the X1, X5, X3 and Mercedes GLC but in the end the X3 won me over. It strikes the best balance between comfort, handling, ease of parking and visibility. Here it is: Last edited by Crassus; 04-16-2016 at 04:09 AM.. |

Lovely car .. Xline the best looking X3 imho
But maybe I'm biased .. Love the beige .. It's such a rich luxurious colour in the flesh and a refreshing change from coal scuttle black

I Agree
Hello Crassius
I agree that this is a striking combination. Bought one myself in the states at the end of Dec. They call it the 2.8 D here. I love it. It may be my favorite car ever. I looked at the same competition. Same color, same interior. All the goodies. BTW: Last Sunday, driving from NYC to Framingham Mass, 200 miles or so, at 63 mph avg, easy foot, 47.3 mpg us. Its wonderful. SinGas

Deep Sea Blue X-Line is on my short-list when it comes to change my X3 next year, almost picked it when I was after my first X3 but couldnt find one to see in the flesh but did manage to find the space grey hence why i went for that.
X-Line looks smarter than the Msport (not a big fan of those huge air vents in the bumper). Not a fan of beige only because I prefer the dash to be completely black and not part beige. Oyster will be my choice, got it on my current X3 and love it

Black Dash/Beige Interior

Not sure if you are aware of it, but there is an option to have the beige interior with black for the dash. I have it on my X3 28D, USA. It may not be available everywhere. Sin Gas

Thanks everyone!
This past weekend I hardwired my BlackVue 650 Dashcam to the car using the Power Magic Pro I used in my F30 3-Series. It's a high spec but very discrete dashcam that works brilliantly. In the 3-Series it was painstakingly easy to get working, but in the F25 I had a few frustrations. Firstly I made the mistake of trying to hardwire the dashcam to the fusebox behind glovebox! I connected the yellow cable to the fuse for the headlights and the red one to a fuse for the radio/entertainment. Not only was the fuse box cumbersome to access but the dashcam only worked for a 1-2 minutes and then cut from power - This despite me trying a few different fuses. After swallowing my pride I decided to consult the manual and learned about the fusebox in the right rear of the car. Again, the same thing happen there, the dashcam worked intermittently despite connecting to the right fuses. I think the ECU or power management system in the 2016 F25 is more sensitive to "foreign" devices than my 2012 F30 in which the hardwiring worked with the first fuses attempted. Thankfully the hardwiring has been working for the past 24 hours both when parked and when ignition is on. Quote:
I also considered buying an M-Sport with M-Suspension deletion but we found black headlining to be claustrophobic. Even with a panoramic roof, the cabin of the M-Sports felt smaller than they were. Last edited by Crassus; 04-18-2016 at 04:03 PM.. |

The X3 has that bimmer Magic where everything is just where it should be. Plus, those x3 seats are so comfy. |

I have upgraded my lights for safety and aestethic reasons. First of all the halogen low and high beam bulbs have been swapped for Philips X-tremeVision H7 Extreme which I’m very happy with. They produce clearer and brighter light than the stock bulbs and so far I haven’t had any issues with them.
Secondly I upgraded the parking lights to white LEDs which have gives the car a crisper and more modern look when unlocking the car. Further more, the bulb help cancel out some of the yellow in the Philips X-tremeVision. Initially the LEDs worked fine but after 2 days the car protested with “Bulb failure” every time I started the car. I solved the problem by buying a set of resistors which only took 2 min to install. Now I don’t get any “Bulb failure” warning at all. Who said it's never sunny in England Fuse 169 ended up being the one that worked. However, that fuse can belong to a different component depending on your model year. |
