Hows it going BMW Fam!

I am looking to gain some fresh perspective as to what the G01 crowd is using to protect and shine up there vehicles. I currently have used Hydrosilex recharge and have had good results. I am unsure as to the performance compared to other products on the market. The main criteria that I am looking for in a exterior protection spray is for: Shine, Durability, Hide small blemishes, Hydrophobic & increased ability in keeping the exterior cleaner with less overall effort especially with winter approaching.

I know that this is a lot to ask for in a spray bottle and may require some other products, but I am curious to hear what you all have been using with success or failure?!

I have used Swiss Vax Concorso wax for the body of the car and have had the bonnet and front bumper treated with XPEL PPF. I spray the PPF with Gyeon Q2M Wetcoat and it ticks all the boxes you have mentioned.

I wax the car every 6 months and do the Wetcoat every 3 months - just spray onto a wet washed car and hose off.

For the wheels you cant go past Gyeon Q2 Rim- I couldn't believe how great it made the wheels look and how easy it is to apply. The crap literally just hoses off the rims.

I’ve tried many waxes, and switched to turtle wax sealant and have to say it is superb, it’s remarkable how easy it go’s on and manages to provide results like a wax spending much longer on the car. I also tried the maguires ceramic, so far it’s ok but not as good as the turtle wax solution.

As the front gets a hammered in winter, I waxed this first and then applied the sealant over the top.

Spray solution? Turtle wax seal n shine as a base, and then ice wax as a drying aid. Cheap, easy, and extremely effective.

Don't have recommendation, just an experience. Using Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish, which looks good and works also good, until the first or second rain (ok, maybe a couple more). First time I used clay bar prior to applying UFF, after that just reapply after wash. Easy to use, but the longevity is not the best. I think that to maintain its function, you need to remove any dirt/residual at least the next day with wash. When I finish to bottle, I won't be buying it again.

I use Carpro Ech20 with every wash and monthly I use CarPro Hydro2 along with it. Debating about replacing the hydro2 with reload on a friends suggestion.

I've been using The Last Coat as my sealant and then they have a product called AMP that is a quick detailer and recharges the sealant a bit.

It's extremely hydrophobic and lasts 4-6 months. And you can use it on all surfaces, which makes application really easy and fool proof

Probably people just not knowing about them or thinking a ceramic based coating is more work/more expensive. Neither are true, but it takes some reading/research to figure that out.

Turtle Wax is the brand. I doubt seal 'n shine is a pure wax product...but I don't know for sure.

Edit, it has wax in it but that's not the sealant.

Wax easier to put on , can be hard to take off (buff).
Ceramic need nearly pristine surface before applying, a bit of patience to apply, lasts 2-4 times longer than wax and easier to maintain once applied.
Based on my personal experience after a lot of reading

Ps there more and more products coming out all the time that are making ceramics easier to use. They are made for the do it your selfers

For me it depends, on among other things, how much time you have/want to spend on your car

Not a fan of ceramics personally as once its done I get bored. At least using spray sealents it give s me a chance to mess around with different products

But as we all know, car care/detailing is very subjective

I've been using TW ICE Seal n Shine which is a hybrid ceramic & carnuba. Supposed to last 6 months, so far, 2-3 months in, still looks good and maintenance washes are easy. They just came out with a new "hybrid solutions" line that looks intriguing and only a few bucks more. This is a super long video, but it has links to everything in the description:

Doesn't come out until November, though... not sure if that matters to your timeline.

I’ve just got this today and applied it to the bonnet for now, to see how it gets on. Go applying is easy, needs a bit of buffing with two clothes but the finish and feel is the best I have seen.

Hopefully durability is good in the U.K. winter.

How has the hydroslick been holding up for you? I just got it yesterday and put it on my X3. So far I think it works as advertised.

Any more more feedback on Hydroslick? It looks like a product I’d be confident to apply.

Do you have to avoid rubber - is it like some products which leave a white residue?

I have recently used Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax.

Pouring with rain here today (Scotland!!) and water beading lovely. Very impressed. Silver car nearly 3 years and old blue one is just over 2 years old.

It's seems a low cost option - very easy to apply as well.

Thank you, that’s useful. Seems like the Chemical Guys is a bit more resilient but Meguiars is easier to buff. Cost whilst relevant is less important than finding the overall better product.

Got to say, it was a doddle to apply and remove - on all surfaces. Left no residue or marks on anything!

I felt a bit cheated as it was so easy to apply and buff off....certainly does the job though.

I've done two cars and you only need a small amount. The bottle will last for ages and adding an extra coat every so often will take no time.
