Thank you, but No.

Looking forward to the iNext, I love the intelligence in the i-concept.
Xi3 is just for those who think a car still has to look like this.

But form follows function, so why a gasoline car design

It's not about being the first. It's about making something that's already here and making it better. Tesla might be first but build quality will always be junk and last even to General Motors.
You must be high.

GM is complete crap.

Compared to build quality. Your high. Tesla was rated last in terms of build quality. Get your facts straight. Should I hashtag it #fact

Luckily we are allowed to have different taste and opinion.
I don't see it as "gasoline car design". I see it as conservative car design, to melt in and don't make my neighbours to jealous.
Personally I don't want to stick out too much, but enjoy the high tech.

It's hard arguing with internet Tesla fans. Since they usually don't own a Tesla, they aren't really acquainted with the facts. And usually even when you present them with the facts, the Elon Musk distortion field prevents them from seeing the truth.

The "Charging Infrastructure" is way overrated. Most EV owners (70%) never use public chargers it at all. I'm on my third EV (Volt, Tesla, i8) and I've NEVER used one. Most EV owners, like myself, simply plug in their cars when they get home and just let them charge overnight. That's why range is so important to EV owners. If you can make your daily average, with a comfortable buffer, then you are good to go! 200+ is pretty generous I think! I'm never going to take a pure EV on a road trip unless its just for the "challenge" of it. I couldn't care less about the charging infrastructure...

Tesla has them beat simply because Tesla has been selling cars...a lot of them..for more than a couple of years.
Actually.. tesla just reached 200,000 this past year correct? BMW has indicated that they have 250,000 electrified vehicles on the road.....

either way... if Tesla is " leading. " they certainly do hot appear to have an insurmountable lead ...
"Electrified" and "electric" are two very different things.

Certainly room for both types and hopefully help with development costs of new models getting the iX3 out there but will be a shame if interior of iX3 isn't updated space wise which is a real plus point of pure electric models but I suppose then that would need a complete redesign?

This pretty much confirms the grille design, you can see the outline of the horizontal piece under the camo.

I don't think any sensible person thinks there is no co2 associated with electric cars but you're right they are not perfect answer they are claimed to be, it should be less though over the lifespan, there is of course emissions associated with building diesel and petrol engines as well

The problem electric helps with is the tail pipe emissions which cause health problems in built up areas which has been found to be a bigger problem with Diesel engines hence the recent hate for them

Like everything it is a start, once better forms of battery come around it should reduce the co2 even more

I'm certainly not ready for an electric car yet but maybe in 4-5 years time I may change my mind if they improve the battery technology

Yep, this is the main reason why BMW's CEO is being outed, because he isn't getting with the times and pushing electrification. While I personally don't want an electric car yet, I do think they are important, and while I'm not a fan of Tesla's that much, one thing they're doing that no one else (other than maybe the Bolt) is range. The fact that the EQ C and E-Tron and even iPace get in the low 200's is pretty dissapointing, and while it may be fine for daily commutes, these are SUVs, cars to be used for road trips, and its not like Audi, Jag or Merc have their own supercharger stations. If the BMW iX3 can hopefully overcome what seems to be the main hurdle for other brands, and get closer to 300 miles or even more (which I have doubts it will, but will hold judgement) I will be more impressed.

Honestly, despite it still being far from production, I'm much more interested in the upcoming i4.

I own an XC90 T8, get ~18 or so miles per charge. If there's one thing this has taught me, it's that I really like EVs, it totally changes the way I drive.

If there's another thing, it's that it would be tough for me to go full electric, there just aren't enough chargers handy yet. With the plug in hybrid I love being both electric and having the convenience of being able to fill up anywhere and still go anywhere.

As such, I'm looking forward to the X5 45e, which will have enough range for 99% of our daily driving, as opposed to the XC90 which covers us maybe 80% (we do about 1200 miles per tank on an 18 gallon tank). This still gives us the convenience of being able to fill up anywhere. When even 30% of Highway pit stops have chargers and we can just stop without planning, then I might consider full electric. Until then I think PHEV is where it's at.

Yes, plug in hybrids are definitely are the best of both worlds, and its even better that BMW finally made the plug in hybrid available w/ the inline 6

Does anyone have any updates on the iX3?
I’m considering buying a new suv next year and think this one would be good.
Also looking at Tesla model Y, Audi Q4 e tron or Volvo xc40 recharge. All better come in around $50k, because if not.. Tesla wins. Not paying $60-70. Yes, flame me now.

The problem I have with iX3 is:

1) announced two wheel drive that I haven't seen any contradiction on (looking for at least an auto mag report of the level of the initial report).

2) lame performance - XC40 recharge is targeting 4.7 sec to 60 which is roughly M40i performance. Honestly I'd be tempted to put a deposit on a Recharge if it were just a tad larger.

I am interested in an EV but I just can't get excited about Tesla. The looks are just tired at this point and I think they'll continue to look the same for the foreseeable future. I feel like all of the models are indistinguishable from the front.
