Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 265/40/21 availability?

Does anyone have an in stock source for PSAS4 in 265/40/21? Everywhere I have checked is in backorder status.

It's been OOS for so long I doubt any place them lingering around. Tire Rack states April availability if you can wait that long.

I am open to considering some other tires but the 'alternative' (Conti DWS 06 + & Pirelli Scorpion AS+) choices I was willing to settle for seem to either not be made in both 255 & 265 or are unavailable for some unknown reason as well.

Frustrating and made all the worse by the fact I did not win the tire lottery and am saddled with Conti SC6 in the dead of winter. A dedicated winter tire is not in the cards, want to be done with the SC6s and don't want the hassle of changing/storage/additional expense for my use case.

If you're open to non-OEM sizes and want the Michelins (far superior to even the DWS06 imho), you could pair the 255/40/21 front + 295/35/21 rears

Suggestion appreciated but I was hoping to stick with the OEM sizes... Its pretty crazy but at this point it looks like I'll have to wait longer for tires than I did for the car itself to be built.

Wondering about Michelin's manufacture scheduling and their lack of ability to produce what seems to be an in demand tire/size.

May I suggest you go full winter tires or full performance tires. It's an absolute waste to throw all seasons on any performance car. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Ran into the same thing a week ago and posted on here. May just go 265/295 DWS 06+'s instead of the Michelins. Also, when you look at Tire Rack at the Pirelli's, they rate incredibly good overall, not a bad choice. The tire you are looking for is on back order until April

FWIW, my wife's Macan S has 20" Pirelli Scorpion AS+ as the OEM standard tire and they're just fine. Honestly every bit as good as the Michelin PSAS4 in everyday situations.

I'll tell him otherwise - the PS AS4 is just as good as the 4S all the way up to 8/10ths in the summer and usable in the winter. Very few owners of this platform actually need the capabilities of the 4S, although there's nothing wrong with having them (I do). I'm considering the AS4 for ride quality reasons alone. Everyone's ownership situation is different.

This.

I agree the ps4s is a fantastic tire (have a set on my e46) and if I didn’t have to drive in cold weather I’d wait out the less than great Contis that unfortunately came with my car, get a set and be done.

I don’t have the space or the desire to swap dedicated winter wheels as I can avoid driving in the snow but not the cold (never mind the additional sunken cost). PS4AS is exactly the tire I need for my use case on the new dad mobile.

Exactly. We aren't driving a hypercar here. It's still an SUV (SAV, whatever).

I drive quite spirited, and haven't felt any shortcomings over the stock Contis in the summer with the PS4 AS tires.

+1. I wanted the Michelins, but couldn't wait for the 265s to come in stock. So went with 255/40/21 295/35/21. Ride quality has improved drastically

So the front tires stayed the same size. And the rear with the 295/35/21 actually dropped the sidewall height a tiny bit.

May I ask which brand/model tire did you have before the switch to MPS4S?

Thank you

Exactly! I came from the stock Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, 255/265

Check your local Costco tire dept also for AS4s. Out of stock on their site as well.

I was lucky to buy a set of 4 AS3+ last year from Costco when Tire Rack and everyone else retired them. Kept a slightly used as a spare as well. I've been using them on my 2014 Audi S4 (255/35/19) for the last 8 years and the best AS tires I've used. AS4s supposed to be a bit less performance oriented at the cost of better ride comfort and wet traction. AS4s have a 540 UTQG rating vs summer PSS in 220s. Some people use AS4s for 3 seasons with another winter set just for the longer life reasons at the compromise of losing some handling. As someone said on this thread we are talking about SUV-SAV here and not a full blown M4 for the track day.

OP I am on the same boat with you in regards to switching between winter and summer set. I did that with my 335D from 2010-2014 and was a bit pain to store it in a small walk in closet in a city apt but I knew that before committing to a RWD car for 4 seasons. If I lived in a house with a garage or commuted each day to work driving then it's a different story. I am looking to make the switch back to a BMW with X3MC or a X3M40i due to need for more gear space and noticed the same backorder on AS4s. My plan is to swap out to AS4s asap after delivery. Just because of tire shortage situation I am delaying my order/purchase until March-April because I am not driving in the snow storm with summer tires.

I was lucky to get a pair recently. Literally last couple sets left over at some place where my buddy got it from using his retail account at his bodyshop. Same with 295 from discount tire. When u check online it could be wrong info, call customer service anyway.

I just replaced all 4 Conti's with PS4AS's in stock sizes on 1-19-22. I live in CT & my tire guy ordered them 1-17-22. He never mentioned anything about short supplies. Absolutely love them.

I couldn't find 265 anywhere online. So I just ordered 295 for the rears from Tire Rack last week...

How are the new tires compared to the continentals?
You didn’t change sizes, just tire brand and model.
I am interested in your experience.

Thanks

The PS4AS are soooo worth it. Definitely improves the overall ride feel.

I ordered mine from Tire America back in November.
Huge improvement in ride quality over the stock Continentals
