Post Front Differential

I am in the process of tearing down my 2013 X3 28i-F25 for a new timing chain & oil pump.
I have hit a wall with the two upper front differential bolts.
Can not get either loose?, they are kind of difficult to get to, but are considerably tighter then the lowers. The are the E14 style bolts (6 point star)
and am worried about stripping them.
Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

All 4 bolts are M12 size - per the BMW TIS the torque spec is the same for all 4. They are tight....140Nm (104 ft-lbs); that's about same torque as a wheel bolt, pretty snug, ugh!
