Rear Wheel Bearing (Entire Hub) DIY?
Needing a wheel bearing for the rear, wondering if anyone has attempted it themselves? Going to go with the entire hub and not just the bearing to hopefully make things easier. Such repair isn't new to me, but with this X3 it definitely isn't as easy to work on as my 335 was..

I haven't, but looking through the diagrams it looks pretty straightforward. The bearing package bolts to the wheel carrier and the hub is pressed into the bearing. If you get a hub and bearing assembly, you'll just need to press the axle out of the hub. Then unbolt and replace the assembly. Finally, pull the axle into the new hub. Way easier than my old E30 was.

Recommend procedure - no make sence
I not sure why the hub has to be separated from the bearing . why no just remove the hole unit, bearing a hub. I replace all the hub bearings for a Subaru, very similar set up as the X3. To remove the bearing - hub assembly just push a little the axel back to make room for the socket. remove the hole unit , and install a new assembly unit. 30 minutes tops. I check serval videos for BMW , most of them they separate first the hub form the bearing on the car. I could not find the reason for this procedure. any thoughts?
