Hello,

Got my set of 2022 tail lights that I ordered thru Aliexpress on December 11th and received them January 17th. Installed them yesterday. The install as stated in a previous post, the harnesses are the same, but each harness you have to de-pin and move around a few wires to work properly. The de-pin process can be a pain the ass. Got to know the tricks when depinning. I now have no desire to go with a 2022, lol.

Fancy sharing any tips? Mine have been sat in a box for a couple of months and I really need to get round to installing them.

Yes, patience on de-pinning the harnesses. That is the hardest part. On the outer light harness you remove the little cover and push gently on the face of the clip and pull the wire out. On the inner tail lights the harness is much smaller and you have to stick a needle from the female opening to get it to unlock and be able to pull the wire out. Once you get one and know the trick its not to bad.

Cool, thanks. The new lights when off look so much better than the giant blocks of red that we have currently, they really date the car. I do however prefer the shape of the illuminated section on the older lights.

I wonder if this will alter the wiring going to the trailer hitch? Also, I saw a European X3 2122 on you tube and it had the yellow turn signals in the rear. Have always been partial to yellow turn signals , I wonder if the European version would work like the 2022 US version.

Great mod and thanks

This is awesome & glad to see this. Please post some photos with a little more clarity soon. Would love to know more details in which pins to depin here!

That's basically the price I paid ordering from the dealer directly.

Someone in another thread referenced the BMW part # and Hella stamp on them. They also said they are likely too new to already have a replica but who knows for sure

I would simply like to know more details on how to properly retrofit these OEM units.

I would guess the wire colors are the same, you just have to depin and rearrange the order as OP mentioned, so it's just a matter of matching the car harness to the light. If not you'd have to get into the schematics unless OP wants to do a DIY guide

Straight bolt in using the same harness. Just need to de pin and move some wires around.

Not a fan of the look, but I admire your persistence installing these.

I’m in love with these new tail lights ! Looks like OP did a great job on the install . Looks so much better then the original lights .I’ve also seen these on AliExpress and they were around $1100.00 . Also if you go to Bimmerfest , someone on there shows a detail of the pin orientation he did . Also got his from China. I gotta have them ! I’m assuming that they will fit on my 2018 X3 GO1 . Again looking good OP !

I know a lot of people don't like the look of the LCI taillights but I think they look great.

Though this price is steep for something made in China. Anyone know what is the OEM cost?
