No idrive maintenance records

Hello,

This is my first post. I'm not (yet) a BMW owner but I'm looking forward to it.
This thread is exactly to clarify some doubts before purchasing a BMW X3 18d Sdrive.
There is this one I'm considering. I like the car, did test drive, everything looks fine. My concerns starts on the maintenance record on idrive. Car is from 03/2017 169.000km and only have 2 records in 2018. Nothing more. Seller tells me that the other services were made in authorized BMW but they can't register on idrive. Can this be true? I asked and he went to bmw to read the key, and looks like there is 12 key readings corresponding to previous maintenance services... Well I'm quite confused.
Sorry for this long one. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

If seller is a private party he/she I would expect he will have hard copy invoices for any service/repair work performed- request those records so you can review.

Would highly recommend you pay a mechanic to perform a pre-purchase inspection, assuming seller provides service records and you are interested to move forward regards purchase.

Yes, agree with you and I booked an inspection Monday.

My question still stands. Is it possible that in BMW store they can see that the key got 12 readings even though that does not match the idrive records? They couldn't give much details apart from a radiator change (?) still on the warranty. That means the car was serviced somehow on approved BMW garage to keep the warranty.

The dealership should be able to verify that all required maintenance has been performed. If not, you can always tell the seller that he/she needs to produce the records or have the maintenance done prior to the sale.

Garage List
When I bought my X3 used, I went to local BMW dealer and they only could pull records from warranty & included maintenance work...they said anything after that they didn't have access to if it wasn't at their dealership

that is correct as in North America the BMW National database only contains service and repair info done during warranty period, beyond that the only record holder is dealership doing the work.

OP is in Europe, so there may be a different BWM record keeping system there (?)

Just an update:

I ended up buying another F25 LCI. But the guy did manage to retrieve from a BMW dealer all the maintenance records. Still strange there is no record at all in idrive.

For the record, i bought an BMW f25 LCI M-Packet 2.0d. 65.000km from 2016. Quite happy so far. Enjoy a lot the driving.

Thanks guys for the help given.

Cheers.
