I have a V1 which I find invaluable when I am in the US and Canada. Sadly it's much less useful in the UK and Europe, but Waze works really well over here.

Be sure to read the manual to turn on the logic function (if I remember the name correctly). It basically turned off X band and kept everything else on.

Thanks for this thread - I'm planning on getting the V1 unless someone ends up responding with a newer and better idea.

Thanks in advance.
I'm still shopping for an X3, but fwiw: Been using Escort detectors for over 15 years, on a wide variety of vehicles. Never had one go 'bad' on me prematurely. In my local area I get a lot of K-band spam signals, but that's due to the plethora of traffic volume measurement sensors we have all over the highways. (known issue for the local crowd)

Otherwise, nothing but good experiences imo.

Good choice. V1 Gen 2 for latest and greatest. Just make sure you doable laser alerts on your radar detector if you have gesture control or it will constantly alert for laser.

Illegal in Virginia but in a previous life I only used Escort. The best overall was always the Escort Solo which uses disposable batteries and thus no cords. I actually still have it and use it on road trips. Truth be told, I think I've mellowed a bit as I've gotten older and not sure I actually need the radar detector...it's just nice to have a little back-up should I not be paying attention to Waze.

I've heard nothing but the best about Valentine. You can also check out Uniden, I think it's a relatively new brand. I have the R7 which also provides directional arrows like the V1. The red light/speed trap alarms are pretty helpful where I am in NYC

Ha! I think I had a Uniden a couple decades ago actually. Perhaps they got out of the game and then back in.

I updated my V1 to the 2nd generation and it seems fine with gesture control. I did not have to disable laser detection with the blend mount.

V1 driver is the best thing you can ever use with your V1. Simply amazing. It's always learning and filtering out falses. Really helpful for all the bombarding K signals from speed signs or automatic door openers in business and retail centers. In CA I should honestly just turn it off. KA is really all that is needed in California. Other states differ though.

You may be lucky in the location that yours is in, being kind of below and tucked behind the mirror. The gesture control sensor definitely messes with my V1 Gen 2 and also several other users I've seen.
