H&R Lowering springs
I received my H&R Springs yesterday in mail and will be getting these installed in a week or two. I was planning on running wheel spacers to flush the fenders bit more as the oem 21" wheels are still pretty tucked in.
Any of you guys run 15 or 20mm spacers? |

Surely you want to install the springs first and see how they settle for the first week or two before you figure out how much room you might have for spacers?

Hmm, so how much lower would this take it? Is this the only point in getting springs? In my opinion, this SUV has pretty impressive handling. I wonder, how much better could it be?

H&R website claims 1.4" Front & .80" Rear. Not a lot but closes the wheel gap slightly.

European Auto Source installed a set of HR springs and spacers, but they didn't list what spacers were used. I'd give them a call if you like the look of this car. I just ordered AC Schnitzer lowering springs for my M40i and I'm curious to see the difference in look of the two springs. Good luck!

Damn that's hot! BMW did well with their wheel arches allowing an even gap at a flat ride height. Looks like the X3 can take some really wide wheels as there seems to be a lot more space for the rear.

I think with the 21" wheels, the springs don't seem to make a huge difference. I bet it'd be way more noticeable with the 20" wheels. The 21s already to a pretty great job of filling out the well to me.
As for spacers, I want wider tires, not sure if I'll need spacers or not. The problem with the X3 is that if you throw on spacers, it pushes out the top to line up more with the fender, but because of the inward slope of the bottom of the fenders, the bottom half of the tire will appear to poke out much further. Kind of an interesting problem... But I'd love to put springs on mine with the 20" wheels, I think it'll be really helpful aesthetically. No one has been able to tell me if doing springs will mess up the M adaptive suspension etc at all? Dinan sells springs too so I'm guessing not? Also, damn that graphite color is good looking, especially with the 21" wheel design. Almost makes me want to trade mine in. Maybe that'll be the next color. Yeah, the overall diameter should be the same (or within a couple percent) for all the wheel/tire combinations. It would be rare for a manufacturer to have wheel/tire combos that have a different overall diameter, otherwise then they need to start messing with gearing and speedometer tweaks for each combo (latter would be software nowadays).

so does anyone know if any other parts are made? i contacted koni and they said 2018 g01 too new and they aren't making anything yet. they said the *might* look at doing special active struts. i was also trying to look for stiffer/adjustable anti-roll bars. |

I would love to get some Koni Actives (formally Koni FSD) on my, not dynamic suspension, 30i. Perhaps these springs too...
I had koni FSD on my e90 and they were awesome, perfect balance between firmness and compliance. |

They must mean the Dynamic Damper Control, because that is standard on the M40i, but optional on the 30i. And the part number is the same for the H&R springs for the 40 and 30.
