BMW X3M Competition (F97) in Alpine White - Walkaround Video

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi All - filmed this at the Ultimate Driving Event last weekend.
This one had Alpine White exterior color with Ivory White Extended Merino leather interior.

My thoughts - it looks very similar to the X3 M40i from the outside. For some reason the X5M stands out right away from regular X5. The rear spoiler and quad exhaust are the only significant differences.

Interior - Not a big fan of the X3 interior in general. The X3M does add very nice M seats and other touches like the new M shifter. Not a fan of the aluminum trim or the Red M1/M2 buttons (looks tacky to me) - otherwise not much different than X3 M40i.

Wow that was a waste of time.

Clearly he doesn't like the car.

I had much higher expectations for the car, how unfortunate. Hopefully they do something a little more extravagant with the LCI.

£70,000 no way when it looks so dull. Far better options from the competition

Clearly the BMW accountants stifled any use of initiative

I have to say this is the worst implementation of an M car since when an M car looks exactly the same like a non real M and before you hit back, I'm a Bimmer fan boy who is on his 7th or 8th car that being said I refuse to cross shop any other make the decision is now easy my next ride is an M340i

I like the interior. Not gonna lie and say it's best ever but looks like an M5 interior especially with the m1 and m2 buttons and the shifter and surround. I'm guessing BMW didn't want to out do M5 or maybe I'm just not spoiled enough since I drive 15 F80 on a daily basis. So compared to that all newer interior everything looks much better to me!

M5 and X5M have to stay the flagman cars so that makes sense.

I just don't get this M vs M40 comparison. Cars are different period imho.

I'd challenge all F10 M5 and F80 guys to jump into M550 and M340 next. No enthusiast is going to do that. I can also argue M550 is the same looking and all as F90 but we all know this is false. Same goes here.

The problem is it doesn't look different enough from a M40i. Front and rear bumper, spoiler, mirrors and the fake fenders that's it. No widened arches, no CF roof, no power dome. 300 lbs heavier than a M40i and narrower tires. The accountants really neutered this thing.
The only "problem" I see is weight and tires. I'm sure weight is more due to car being more luxurious inside and maybe additional performance features but the extra power will take care of it. Tires - nothing to say, if it's true I'm disappointed but I'd think it's also done for a reason.

tbh, w/ it being AWD i don't think it's as important traction wise (don't get me wrong, i would love to see 315's on the rear) to have very wide tires. also, those wide tires are heavy as hell

Ya, I agree - we like wide tires for the thicccness. I'm sure the performance is there on the tires they put on at the factory.

Nothing really stands out vs the X3 M40i except the badges... BMW could be a little more aggressive and try to make it more distinct vs the regular X3.

I had a guy compliment me at a drive thru window this past weekend " NICE WHIP " while in my X1 M sport....

I drove off thinking.. what if I had been in an X3M... then realized... heck.. how many lay people really even can tell the difference between an E84 X1 and an X3M .

The X3M I believe is roughly 600-800 lbs heavier than my E84 X1 M sport which is RWD only. The AWD E84 Xdrive was tested at 3822 curb weight and I am seeing 4300 plus for the X3M.

Do I need AWD ? no.. I specifically bought Sdrive28 because I don't.
Do I need 21" wheels - no.. not with 265s on them....
Do I need to do zero to 60 in 4.1 seconds (vs 6.1 now) in an SAV? ..not really.
